Transfer Roundup: Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle, Fulham, Bolton, Sunderland, Reading, Juventus, Hertha Berlin

Momo Sissoko can’t be too pleased that his Mali team got dumped out of the African Cup of Nations in the first round, but I imagine he might be skipping down the streets of Turin pretty shortly, as his transfer to Juventus has been completed. Sissoko wanted out of Liverpool, and now he’s out, with him signing a four and a half year deal to be reunited with Claudio Ranieri, his manager at Valencia. The 8.2 million pound fee will be paid in three installments, and the total fee could increase depending on how well Juve does.

FA Cup 4th Round Draw: Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool expect easy passage

While there aren’t any jaw-dropping ties in the fourth round of the FA Cup, there are definitely a few ties worth watching. However, we don’t know who we’ll be watching in many of the ties, as there are still 12 places yet to be decided by replays that will take place over the next two days.

The Premier League participation in the competition might be slashed in half by the end of next Wednesday. If you’re Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, or Wigan, you’re sitting pretty right now, as their passage was sealed with a victory at the first time of asking.

FA Cup 3rd Round Draw - 2007/2008

It seems that they are destined for each other, rather to play against each other. The draw for the English FA Cup was made on Sunday and an almost inevitable pairing was announced. Manchester United and Aston Villa have locked horns in the FA Cup three times in the last six seasons and they will be fighting each other again this year, this time in the third round that will played out in the first weekend of the new year.

Wigan, Sheffield United, Fulham and Charlton are not good enough to stay up on their own

Self-righteous morality is usually sickening, but when it’s backed by financial self-interest, it has to be spat on, stamped on and burnt on the stake.

West Ham and Charlton Need To Put The Past Behind

Christmas has come and gone, but for Neil Warnock, with sides self-destructing around him, the festivities began a long time ago and show no signs of letting up. Sheffield United were tipped by most bookies and pundits for a swift return to the Championship, along with fellow promoted clubs Watford and Reading.

The Soccerlens Oracle - this weekend’s winners and losers

First up - if you haven’t already, read Hugo’s writeup on who will win La Liga this season. And no, Barcelona aren’t favourites.

On to the Premiership - there’s a 2 week break for international matches after this weekend (England have their Euro 2008 qualifiers against Macedonia (H) and Croatia (A)).

I refuse to pretend that I know anything about football (and I suspect some of you have figured that much out by now), but I’m going to match wits against the Fink Tank Predictor and on Monday night we’ll know whether statistics or gut-instincts are better are predicting meaningless results.

Manchester United Grind Down Charlton With Tough Win

Manchester United vs Charlton goal videos

Charlton Athletic 0-3 Manchester United

Utd (Fletcher 49′, Saha 80′, Solskjaer 90′)

It’s all us Manchester United fans here, right? So let’s not mince words.

We fkn rocked the Valley with our posession play, our passing and a willingness to keep going at the opposition until they broke down under the pressure.

Not as convincing as against Fulham, but then again Charlton were playing at home and Manchester United had Mikael Silvestre playing alongside Rio Ferdinand.

Darren Fletcher celebrates Manchester United's first goal of the game

Surprised? Fletcher opens the scoring in the 49th minute and Manchester United are on their way to a 3-0 away win.
