prediction for next year: casillas, sergio ramos, terry, puyol, dani alves, xavi, iniesta, c.ronaldo, henry, eto’o, messi.

yes, 7 barca players, even in man utd’s double last year, they were never this dominate, messi has 23 goals and 11 assists through 25 games.

    Mes que un club

Good team. The same names crop-up all the time with some very marginal calls deciding it in the end.

@Esteban: You obviously haven’t been watching Vidic this season. At this point he’s a shoe in for one of the CD positions. Also, Ronaldo has to do a lot from here to retain his place. Ribery has been outstanding for Bayern so don’t bet on him not being there again.

And Terry! Shouldn’t have been there this year and definitely won’t be next!

Omitting Evra and Ferdinand is frankly ridiculous given the seasons they had. The rest of it isn’t too bad.

Hmm where’s Villa? Vidic? Ferdinand? Gerrard.

Vidic has to be in there ahead of JT I’m afraid. Dani Alves is looking pretty hot considering that Ramos is a bit over-rated. And Jonathan is right, Evra has been exceptional.

That’s so stupid, Steven Gerrard IS NOT a right midfielder. How can any player hope to even compete with Cristiano Ronaldo for the right midfielder position. Had Gerrard been correctly classified as a central midfielder, he would have been chosen. This is incredibly disingenuous to the best box-to-box midfielder in the World.

John Terry is a shit player, get over it. Stop kidding yourselves and actually try to critique his performances without any bias, and you will discover that he is a hot-headed, incredibly average center back.

Terry cant be judged on his performances, most of the time he’s not playing cos he’s been sent off. Evra and Vidic HAVE to be in that squad, I dont care what anyone says, plus I dont think Ribery’s that good (then again I’ve not seen much of him of late) No way Puyol’s better than Carvalhio or Ferdinand/Vidic, he’s a peripheral figure in Barcelona. Can’t really argue with Ramos, Messi, Fabregas, Torres, Xavi though they’re all top class and Cassillas for that matter. Though I do think its unfair on Villa not to be in it, he was 50% of Torres in the Euros but missed the final due to injury. Shame.

    Who wrote this piece?!?!?!

At the bottom of Ronaldo’s bio…

*September: wins 50th international cap as Germany draw 3-3 with Finland in Helsinki in World Cup qualifier.
    • October: stretches unbroken sequence of international starts for Germany to 17 in World Cup qualifier against Wales.”

eh john terry? And i’m not too sure about ribery either; he seems to turn it on once every 10 games.

@Crommy: that was my mistake, formatting error. That part should have gone under Philipp Lahm’s profile.

How can steven gerrard not be on this list. How can uefa be stupid enough to class Gerrard as a right midfielder. he doesn’t even play right midfield anymore and hasn’t been classed as one in the last few years why do it now when he never plays the position?? He is one of the best midfielders ever/

I don’t have too many problems with that lineup. I still think that Sergio Ramos is lightly overrated. Although he has a good work ethic, in the Euros he was very clumsy and his passing was pretty poor. I guess as long as he keeps making charging runs down the right he will be hard to handle.

    John Terry
-Captains his national team to miss out on a major tournament (Euro 2008)
-Slips and misses the winning penalty against Manchester United to lose the Champions League
    -Gets injured
    -Gets sent off
-Is named on the team lineup
    -Gets injured during warm-up
    -Gets sent off

    Defender of the Year indeed.

ok, people need to stop whining about gerrards rm positioning. ronaldo has been playing rw all his life, which is a forward. fabregas is cm not cam,and im sorry but messi needs to be lw not st, like wtf thats just people needing to have particular players in the team and running out of room for them… but its all just cemantics… my team; LB=lahm CB=vidic CB=puyal RB=ramos CM=fabregas CM=gerrard RW=ronaldo LW=messi ST=ibrahimavic ST=torres. manager is spot on though.

Gerrard is the best player in champions league. He should be included in the Squad for Fabregas. He should be included in the squad and be declared as captain too coz he is the most inspirational captain ever.Carragher should be in for John Terry. Instead of messi and torres ,,, Delpiero and Villa should be included for their current performance
