Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry is one of the best strikers in the world today. Has won every competition except the Champions League, and while there’s a chance that he could still win it with Arsenal, Henry, turning 30 in August 2007, is running out of time.

Has been linked with a move away from Arsenal for the last couple of summers, but most of it is just speculation and nothing else – blind throwing of mud on the wall hoping that when it sticks, people can claim that they knew it all along.

A player who has won the World Cup (1998) and Euro 2000, and it’s a shame that a player of his ability has never won the Fifa World Player of the Year award.

That and the Champions League.

Arsene Wenger – The Wise One

Arsene Wenger – The Wise One

As the news slowly made its way across the pond to me that Thierry Henry had signed for the New York Red Bulls, I couldn’t help but think, “He is always right”. As a long time Arsenal fan, I was as disappointed and worried as other fans when Arsene Wenger allowed Henry to leave for…

Bullsh*t Ahoy! Thierry Henry Signs For New York Red Bulls

Thierry Henry has officially made his first tentative steps into semi-retirement after finalising his protracted move from Barcelona to the New York Red Bulls this afternoon. After three largely underwhelming years at the Camp Nou, the 32-year-old striker has joined the MLS outfit on a ‘multi-year’ contract – although the actual terms of the deal…

Transfer Rumors: Man City close on trio, Real land Benfica wiz Di Maria, Henry to leave Barcelona, and more

With the World Cup heading towards the latter stages, we’re already seeing things rapidly heating up in the world of transfers. Up to this point, there’s been mostly speculation and little substance, but that’s about to change in the next several days. Manchester City’s second straight summer super spending spree (that’s a lot of s’s…

Is Domenech’s stubborn nature going to haunt France?

Is Domenech’s stubborn nature going to haunt France?

France coach Raymond Domenech has never been warmed to at all by the French public and even more so from his players as he dropped his latest clanger on Friday in the build up to France’s uninspired 0-0 draw with Uruguay by succumbing Florent Malouda and talisman Thierry Henry to the bench. The 58 year…

Transfer Rumours: Ballack Out, Schweinsteiger In At Chelsea?

Chelsea are featuring heavily in the gossip columns this morning, with the news that a couple of their highest-profile players are almost certain to be ushered out of Stamford Bridge this summer after failing to sway owner Roman Abramovich with their hard-ball contract demands. Here’s the best of today’s rumour-tism… Premier League Chelsea have decided…

World Cup Preview Part 1: Rooney’s Metatarsal, Dunga’s Demise and French Revolution!

Now I can point to endless articles I have written on here that have been so on the money, in terms of their predictions/forecasts, that it’s scary! Only recently I predicted the demise of Benitez and that Chelsea would win the PL. I have also clearly pointed out that Mourinho is a lucky wanker, Wenger…

Transfer Rumours (4th June 2010): Yaya Toure Is ‘Desperate’ To Join Man City

After yesterday’s revelations, I’m slightly surprised we haven’t got a few more ‘Liverpool exodus’ stories this morning, but I’m pretty sure we won’t have to wait too long before the floodgates crash open. Instead the main transfer story centres around a man that has been linked with a move to the Premier League more than…

09/10 La Liga Review: Barcelona conquers, Galacticos denied glory & the rest of Spain left helplessly behind

As 08/09 ended, Barcelona were roundly recognized as the world’s greatest team. They had dominated in La Liga, claimed the Spanish Cup, and comfortably beaten Manchester United in a much-hyped but ultimately bathetic Champions League Final. Following on from Spain’s triumph at Euro 2008, it led to the Hispanic media celebrating what they called a…

First off, welcome to this space, hopefully to become your one-stop-shop for USMNT analysis along with the rest of the world of U.S. soccer. I’m extremely passionate about the beautiful game as it continues to develop in the U.S., and hopefully we’ll have some interplay on the topic in the coming weeks and months. With…
