Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard – former West Ham player, now plays for Chelsea and is one of the best midfielders in the Premiership, despite what his critics say. In my view, he plays far too much football and should take breaks – plus he’s never found the right manager or the tactical approach to help him do well on the international stage since 2004/2005.

That’s a pitty, because the Chelsea Lampard could do wonders for England.

Frank Lampard Chelsea Wallpaper

A nice football wallpaper featuring Frank Lampard from this season. He’s wearing the new Chelsea shirt, which looks really good in the wallpaper. There is not much detailing on the background and there’s not much work done to blend in the render with the background either. The brushes used are a bit random, but do…

Can Chelsea And England Manage Without Frank Lampard?

Can Chelsea And England Manage Without Frank Lampard?

Can Chelsea and England manage without Frank Lampard? Well, the prosaic answer is that they’re going to have to until mid-October, after a minor setback (inflamed scar tissue if you must know) in his recovery from groin surgery means that the midfielder will be sidelined until after the international break – with a return tentatively…

The Difference Between City & Chelsea

The Difference Between City & Chelsea

Manchester City and Chelsea have provided some of the biggest talking points in football in recent years, with their hundreds of millions of pounds thrown at teams for some of the world’s best players. This weekend, they faced each other on the pitch; and for the third time in a row City defeated the champions….

The Chelsea Juggernaut rolls on

The Chelsea Juggernaut rolls on

Two games played. Two games won. 12 goals scored. Fine, they only beat West Brom and Wigan (two favorites for the drop) but they didn’t even get into second gear to ease six goals past the aforementioned teams. The Community Shield was simply a blip for them, as many of their stars were only returning from…

Ten Premier League Milestones

Ten Premier League Milestones

1. Manchester United are only six points short of earning 1500 in the Premier League. With an average of 2.15 points per game, Alex Ferguson’s side are unsurprisingly the most successful team in the league’s 17-year history. 2. Kevin Davies needs to commit 34 more fouls to take his Premier League career total to 800….

As of next year, the two most prestigious individual accolades in world football will cease to exist as seperate entities, and merge to create a single globe-spanning award. France Football‘s Ballon d’Or (i.e. the European Footballer of the Year award) will now be combined with FIFA’s World Player of the Year award to form a…

England’s World Cup – Pointing the finger

On the 12th June 2010 England started their World Cup campaign, their team littered with some of the best players that world football has to offer. The likes of Ashley Cole, Stephen Gerrard and Wayne Rooney are but three names within the star-studded squad that look to both excite the Rainbow nation and bring the…

Old England’s last chance for World Cup glory?

Old England’s last chance for World Cup glory?

Last Chance for the England Chieftains? At one point Terry, Lampard, Gerrard and now Ferdinand have all held the captaincy yet all four are likely playing their last World Cup ever. Will this incite a mid-life-crisis-esque meltdown or provide swan song cup winning motivation? It struck me as I was glancing through this England team…

Podcast: World Cup tips, Mourinho’s wish list and United’s transfer worries

Host Adrian Clarke is joined by guest pundit Iain Macintosh for a rip-roaring end of season episode of the Soccerlens Podcast.  The dynamic duo (in the absence of a beach bound Iain Spragg) debate who will become Inter’s next boss, the names Jose Mourinho will have at the top of his Bernabeu shopping list and…

England 2010 World Cup Squad: The Final Cut

England 2010 World Cup Squad: The Final Cut

Although it is yet to be officially announced by the Football Association (at the time of publication), it would appear that the seven awkward “it’s not you, it’s me…” phone calls have been made and – after several hours of water-torture style press leakage – we can at last piece together the final draft of…
