Sir Alex Ferguson: Arsenal are better than last season

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Arsenal have improved since last season, insisting that his side will have to work harder than ever to try and get past Arsene Wenger’s side.

Arsenal currently sit at the top of the table, with one point being the difference between themselves and second-place Manchester United, who in their defence, have a game in hand in the form of an away game at Blackpool which was called off due to difficult playing circumstances.

Arsenal travel to Old Trafford to face Fergsuon’s Red Devils on Monday night, which will prove to be a game that will show each side’s title credentials, knowing that these two teams ar now strong favourites, accompanied by Chelsea.

Ferguson believes it will be harder to overcome The Gunners on Monday, because they have learned to bond their unique passing techniques with clinical finishing up front.

Ferguson told his club’s official website:

“I think they’ll still try to play the attractive football Arsene believes in, but there’s definitely been a slight change.”

“The general shape of the team has been far more mature and aggressive this year.

“They’re top of the league – that’s a sure indication that they are better than they were last year and they’ll have a chance.”

“They were very difficult to beat in the days of Emmanuel Petit and Patrick Vieira and the three at the back – Keown, Adams and Bould.”

“That brought them great success and I think that this team is showing that kind of maturity now.”
