Deal almost done – Chelsea to lose yet another precious talent

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is all set to join La Liga Champions Atletico Madrid in summer, according to reports in Spain.

The 21-year-old striker, who joined the West London club from Anderlecht in 2011, recently revealed that he will leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The Belgium international is seen as one of the highly talented youngsters in world football, but despite impressing during two loan spells with West Bromwich Albion and Everton, he doesn’t feature in Jose Mourinho’s long term plans.

“You know Chelsea, every year they buy a new top striker. I remember me coming into the dressing room last year and seeing Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba and going, ‘Whoah! What’s happening here?” Lukaku said.

“But no problem. Many clubs are interested in me. At this stage, I have to look to myself. I have to play a good World Cup. That’s very interesting for all the players looking for a transfer. And I must be one of them. Chelsea know my point of view.”

Now, Spanish newspaper AS claims that Atletico have almost sealed the deal for Lukaku, after agreement between both the clubs have been reached.

While Chelsea may sign Diego Costa from Atletico or bring in marquee names in the summer, but one cannot help but feel bad that another top young talent was forced to leave the club without giving him proper chances. It forces us to think that Chelsea’s handling of young talents is not only wrong but damaging at the same time.

  1. my thought is that chelseafc are loaning this player out, not that is been sold to Atletico madrid if its on loaning it will be advantage chelsea at the end of the day,b’cos by then he would ‘ve become a prolific striker in the world of football.

  2. Bad news, chelsea need sharp strikers so why to allow Lukaku to leave, its better to release Ba & Torres,

  3. Our whole youth policy is a complete joke!!. Young players have absolutely no chance of breaking into the first team under JM. We should just forget about the academy since it’s clear that JM just doesn’t rate any young player currently in our set up regardless of what he may say. Even those young players on loan who have performed well will not get a chance.

  4. It is better that chelsea loan torres and leave lukaku coz lukaku has suffered tomuch on loan and even dat did very well on loan but still jm still don’t won’t him in his squad which is very bad

  5. I can’t blief all what cfc is doin witout tryin give d young one a chance…player like T.hazard who net 16g and 20a on loan …lukaku dat hit more than 30goals in 2 season in Epl…I can’t blief cfc wanna let those guys leave on loan again…

  6. My problem is that Lukaku talks too much. His latest comment that we will leave because Chelsea is trying to sign Costa is wrong. He is still a young player and I was hoping he will be our second striker next season behind Costa and ahead of Torres but his comments suggests that he wants to lead the line for Chelsea which I believe is not proper. I believe he should learn how to do his talking on the pitch. He is a good striker but he is still not matured enough to lead the line for a club like CFC. He should look at his mentor Drogba, who at a time have Shevy, but he did his talking on the pitch..

    • Kay I agree you, Lukaku need to be mature, because his comment shows he want chelsea club to beg him,how advise chelsea club to sale him not to release for loan, I don’t know these guys, last season chelsea try to signing Christian Benteke from Aston Villa but he refuse to join, but you see him at now,I think he regret that chance to be chelsea player,

  7. He is a gud strike yes bt I tink chelsea fc is bigger dan him he hav bin given so many chance in d past yet he did prove himself I tink he shud be left 2 leave.

  8. for me I will not support lukaku to leave Chelsea becoz he is ripped to play for our dear club. let’s try him first. he should come as second striker. then BA and Torres should go coz they have tried too

  9. Lukaku talk too much! Just look at man city! With four diffrent striker’ Dzeko, aguero, jovetic and negredo! See now lukaku is now blattering!!! That’s just the reason mourinho don’t like him……..I guess he should leave if he wants to

  10. If this will be the end of Lukaku’s spell at Chelsea, well, may all good follow him wherever he went. He is a promisi ng tarlent and must go for it.

  11. Eze, Mourihno likes a strikers who score goals, so for Lukaku I think Chelsea owner lose interest in him because of bad comments against his own club,to my side I seen good chance for Lukaku to be first choose player partnership with costa

  12. I agree with KAY, he talks too much but at the same time I see ppl who neva gathered guts to raise their voice are rotting around like Mcechran, kakuta, Kalas, Cortious, Mata, Bruma, Kevin De bruyne, etc best of luck !

  13. Ability speaks, the guy as the ability to play for cfc let try him for me is the guy we are all looking for
