Styles Error Costs Newcastle 3 Points, Refs Cost Newcastle 8th Spot In League

The Right Result independent panel last reviewed the key incidents from the Newcastle v Manchester City game and judged the following:

Rob Styles was wrong to award a penalty to Manchester City for Habib Beye’s tackle on Robinho.

The Right Result: NEWCASTLE 2-1 MANCHESTER CITY

According to the Right Result Table Newcastle, despite their off field problems should be far higher in 8th. It seems the team are not getting the rub of the green when it comes to match official decisions. Something else for Joe Kinnear to rant about!

And while we’re at it, here’s a look at the number of decisions Rob Styles has gotten wrong in recent years.

to be honest i did not see the tackle in slow mo,the little i saw on skysports shows that habib actually got the ball. so i can’t say but rob styles again what is it with this referee. always behind controversial calls/decisions, we just have to wait and see.

It matters not that Habib got a touch on the ball only that in ref Styles opinion he played the player first, which he clearly did in the replays. Ref Styles was right there close to the play and was correct in the call, and just because they call their website the Right Result doesn’t mean they’re right.

Right there close to play? Are you kidding me? He was 18 yards directly behind the play looking through at least a few players. He did not appear to consult the linesman, who didn’t indicate a foul. Now, whether or not it was actually a foul is one thing, but stating that Styles was “right there” is ridiculous.
