Liverpool are close to completing the signing of Alberto Moreno, who is expected to complete his medical by today or tomorrow.

The Reds officially announced that a deal had been struck with Sevilla for Moreno, which is thought to be region of £12m

The 22-year-old was withdrawn from the Sevilla side that faced Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup and had a tearful farewell in Cardiff.

“Liverpool are a great team and of course I’m super-motivated. I hope things go well,” Moreno said.

“I am living a strange situation because I’m leaving the club of my life. I was always aware of the two teams (trying) to agree.

“I never got into that but Sevilla have understood that Liverpool’s offer was good and I am going.

“I have many feelings together. What happened on the pitch, with the fans, will remain forever etched on me and I could not help but mourn because I did not expect it.

“First came the parting with colleagues, then with the fans… all very complicated.”

He will undergo a medical and then the club can officially announce his signing, but courtesy Twitter, we have the first picture of Moreno in a Liverpool away kit. Though the image is not distinct but we can figure out who the player is.

HUGE BOOST for Arsenal: €25m midfielder could be heading for exit

  1. dont think about marco reus man.manutd dont let you boys buy cavani and marco reus!!
manutd must be in the first in this season

  2. Good buy from LFC. I think Brendan Rodgers is spot on with his buys in this window. Except Lambert though, that one was more of a sentimental acquisition than a sensible one. Loic Remy would’ve been much more effective. LFC need a better RB, Johnson just not good enough.
