Now that's how you win a derby. And we have a front-runner

Game of the weekend – QPR  2  Cardiff  1

How many times will Adel Taarabt, QPR’s mercurial Moroccan maverick, be the difference for them? His goal won the game which didn’t answer the question of who is the best team in this division. Cardiff showed more class and intent in the first half, only to go AWOL in the second. QPR may have been good rather than brilliant but, with an 8 point lead over third-placed Swansea, they are firmly nestled in the driving seat.

Player of the weekend – Grant Holt, The East Anglia Derby’s Hat-trick Hero

With a moustache that a World War One general would be proud of, Grant Holt over-powered the Ipswich defence with a proper centre-forward’s performance. He bullied the defence with sheer strength and finished with precision. Let’s be tactful and not mention that he was lucky to have avoided being sent off in the second minute of the game.
A weekend to forget for . . .  Sheffield United

Out-classed at Bristol, their turnaround in form came to a shuddering end. It doesn’t help when you give away two penalties in the first half an hour.

Comeback of the weekend –  Burnley  2   Derby  1

Little has been going right for Burnley of late while everything has been happening for Derby. So it was a surprise to see Burnley grab 2 in the last 10 minutes and win this one. Just maybe the kick up the posterior that their season required.
