Manchester United’s Van de Saar Thinking About Quitting?

Written by John Stevanja. Tagged: Manchester United

Big J from Keeper Skool writes about Manchester United keeper Edwin van der Sar:

With only another season left at Manchester United in Edwin van der Sar’s goalkeeping gloves, the Dutch maestro is contemplating a future that seems uncertain. Recently I have been stumbled across many instances where goalkeepers of van de Saar’s generation are moving on…some with their pants off (ala Oliver Khan and Asia)!

It seems that van der Saar is not so much confused about what to do with himself, rather he has become bored. Seriously, you get to a point in your career where the training becomes monotonous. You look for new challenges that are outside the usual sphere of goalkeeping, say, coaching or maybe golf at an exclusive resort?

“When you reach my age, you have to take it like that both in terms of the club and the player. You must always try to keep the pleasure in your game.

“When you don’t have that 100% desire any more, you can stop or go to a lower level or whatever.”

Will EVDS stay at Manchester United? Will Ferguson have to blood Foster or Kuszczak as Manchester United’s next goal keeper or will Manchester United move for Craig Gordon?

Discuss.

This will be Van der Sar’s last season at United.
Knowing Man U they will make a move for Gordon or another up and coming young keeper.

Van Der Sar will move to Ajax or something for half a season then hang his gloves up

  2. If he does so, I think it would be a good time to exit. I think he is one of the best in the Premiership, but he seems to be slipping. When the mind is not in it, it’s hard to stay focused. It would be great if he goes out with a bang.

Yeah, I think this season will be his last in the Premier League. He possibly will go back to Holland and play half a season or so.

He deserves to go out with style

  4. Great keeper pure professional. hoping foster or any1 else will follow in his big footsteps.just wished he had joined united sooner.

  5. If he goes we’re fucked please not another Taibi,Howard or Barthez please please please no

  6. Dude…I will seriously hate to see United bid for Gordon..remember ricardo lopez? How many games did he play? We have far too many keepers. Both Foster and Kuszack are good enough for the no1 jersey!

i dont think man utd have to move for another keeper with Foster and Kuszczak coming into replace VDS and tom heaton (i saw him train before a game, looked so much more composed and calm than Kuszczak) would be a more than able backup. I fully expect Foster to take over the first choise keeper position at some point this season.

  8. i think that evds will not leave until two sesons are p becuase he has been playgin well and is leading manchester united to another trophy and we build on his success
