Van Gaal ready to bid for £20m Liverpool & Chelsea target

Pedro is tired of speculations and wants Man United move within 72 hours

When Luis Enrique insisted recently that he would not stop Pedro Rodriguez from leaving Barcelona (should he chose to do so), it inevitably left the door ajar for the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool to try their luck on signing the Spanish forward. Trust me, the saga can only get interesting, as Manchester United, almost out of the blue, have not only joined the race, but are willing to spice things up with a £20m bid for the Barcelona forward.

Only few weeks ago, it was Chelsea, who were leading the race to sign him. Jose Mourinho called him personally, and assured him of regular game time, which he was deprived at Barcelona. However, Chelsea are unwilling to meet his €30m release clause, and could go only as far as €20m for the Spaniard. Barcelona, knowing they will have offers coming for Pedro from other top Premier League clubs, would baulk at such suggestion.

Liverpool are ready to match his price tag, but the Reds cannot offer him the Champions League football, he was used to be a part of it, all these years.

According to reports from The Times, Manchester United are exploring the possibilities of signing Pedro, and the Old Trafford club are thought to be ready to put up a bid for the 27-year-old forward.

“It’s true I have received important offers,” Pedro said. “My situation is complicated because I want to play a lot of minutes, but that is becoming very difficult at Barcelona,” said Pedro recently.

Angel di Maria might leave the club in the summer, and should that happen, United would need a strong replacement. The Red Devils have registered a strong interest in Benfica’s Nico Gaitan, but Pedro could be a cheaper and better alternative.
