Manchester United plot shock move for Chelsea star as priority summer signing

Liverpool transfer news

According to reports from the Daily Telegraph, Manchester United have already earmarked Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech as a possible replacement for David De Gea who could leave for Real Madrid in the summer.

Mark Ogden writes in daily column that United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed a list of targets to replace the Spaniard who is reluctant to sign a contract extension despite being offered £200,000-a-week wages by the Red Devils.

Yesterday Madrid based media outlet Marca reported that De Gea had ‘agreed terms with Real Madrid’ and he will bee earning around €8m euros a year and will commit to a five year contract.

However it will be difficult for United to sign Cech as Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho doesn’t want to sell the veteran goalkeeper to a Premier League rival. The 32 year old has played second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois this season and it is believed that he doesn’t want to spend any more time on the sidelines.

Yesterday we also reported that the Czech keeper has been granted the permission to speak to interested clubs.

Cech’s agent Viktor Kolar confirmed that the towering Czech international will now start negotiating for his future as he wants to play at a high level regularly. Kolar said, “Petr [Cech] has a valid contract with his current club, however, I can confirm that we have been permitted by Chelsea to negotiate with interested parties. Petr has confirmed his interest to play regularly at a top club. That’s the task that we are now working on, but other than that there has not been any other change in the terms of Petr Cech’s employment and the transfer period only begins on July 1.”

United have also lined up Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris should they fail to sign Cech, the latter who has also been linked with a move to Arsenal.
