Just when you thought that the Luis Suarez saga was slowly cooling down, there has been another major twist in the tale, this time the player’s agent acting as catalyst.

Luis Suarez

According to reports from The Daily Mirror, Suarez is refusing to give up on a potential move to Arsenal, as his agent, Pere Guardiola has conveyed it to the Anfield hierarchies that his client is frustrated and wants to quit the club for Champions League football.

Suarez feels he has been let down by the club over promises that he would be sold if the Reds missed out on the Champions League.

The Gunners had lodged two rejected bids for the Uruguayan, with their latest just crossing £40 million mark, which they thought would trigger the player’s release clause. Liverpool reacted vehemently with owner John W Henry even took Twitter to dig a snipe at the Gunners.

Liverpool insist that the clause inserted in his contract is water-tight and it only allows them to inform the player, but under no circumstances does it oblige them to accept offers from other clubs.

However, after an internal interaction with the player, manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that Suarez understands now that the clause in his contract doesn’t oblige the club to sell him, if any club bid over £40 million, further adding that the striker is happy to stay put if no other club matches his valuation.

Although Suarez can take the club to tribunal (the player’s camp have not abandoned the possibility), as he has already done in the past with Groningen, he can go AWOL, stop training, use media to slur insults and what not – but in all probability he will not do any of these things.

The Suarez camp claims that the players has been verbally promised that apart from bitter rivals Manchester United, the offers from elsewhere would be entertained and that includes the London giants as well.

While the Uruguayan was certain of a move to Madrid a month ago, Real’s interest dying down has prompted the former Ajax star to desperately seek a move elsewhere & with Arsenal the only club interested – its now or never for Luis Suarez.
