Bild: Liverpool will sign Emre Can within next 24 hours
Liverpool will make Emre Can, their second signing of the season, after reports emerged in Germany that a deal has been struck between both the clubs, following the capture of Rickie Lambert from Southampton.
Only yesterday The Guardian reported that Liverpool are in advanced talks with Leverkusen over the transfer of the Germany Under 21-international.
The Reds had already agreed to meet the €12m (£9.7m) release clause in the 20-year-old’s contract at Bayer Leverkusen over a week ago.
The Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler confirmed on Wednesday: “Liverpool are interested, the deal would be lucrative and there is a clause in his contract.”
Now, German newspaper Bild claims that it was a rumour until Tuesday, but it is now official. Leverkusen CEO Michael Schade told BILD:
“Until Tuesday, it was a rumour. Now I can confirm that an official offer from Liverpool is received by mail.”
Bild reports that all parties are happy with the offer and that the deal will be announced on Thursday.
German giants Leverkusen have hoped to kept the services of Can, but once his release clause of €12m has been trigged, they’re helpless to hold on to him.
