Liverpool complete Luis Alberto deal from Sevilla
It was reported earlier that the young Spaniard has passed his medical at the club’s training ground, while it was thought that the deal will be officially announced some time within next week.
According to the club’s official website, the 20-year-old versatile attacking player has penned a long term contract at the club.
It is understood that Liverpool have paid around £8million with an additional £2million as incentive for his services, while the player has signed a four-year-deal, with an option of extending it for another year.
The Reds manager Brendan Rodgers said:
“We are all delighted that Luis has decided to join Liverpool. He has the correct footballing profile and mentality to be a Liverpool player.
“I look forward to working with him to develop his talent and he joins a group of young exciting players at our club.”
Alberto spent the last season on loan to Barcelona B where he impressed everyone by notching up 11 goals and further providing 17 assists in 38 appearances.
The youngster claimed as “the happiest man” on earth upon his joining today. He insisted that moving to Liverpool was a huge step in his career and is eager to adapt quickly in a new country. He expressed his unbridled joy by saying:
“I feel like I’m in a bubble at the moment. For me Liverpool is a top team. I feel like I am dreaming and I want to enjoy it to the full.
“I feel very excited, I’ve never felt so excited before but I’m very happy. I think I am the happiest man on earth.
“I was surprised [when Liverpool showed interest in me]. You never expect this to happen to you. But as the deal moved forward, I became very happy and I wanted to come to Liverpool.
Alberto has become the second official signing for Liverpool following the capture of Kolo Toure from Manchester City. The Reds have agreed a fee for Celta Vigo’s striker Iago Aspas and are hoping to conclude the deal very shortly.
