Kanchelskis: Arsenal best option for Manchester United target Aleksandr Kokorin

Aleksandr Kokorin

Former Manchester United player Andrei Kanchelskis thinks Dynamo Moscow striker should consider a move to Premier League club Arsenal.

The 24-year-old striker is attracting interests from several Premier League clubs, and has been a reported target of Manchester United.

“There is every reason to believe he will end up at either Manchester United or Tottenham,” his agent said back in October.

On his chances to join Arsenal:

“I don’t know. I don’t remember many outstanding achievements, except they recently won the FA Cup. So I don’t know, I don’t know,” Loginov told Russian publication News Today.

“Aleksandr, if all well informed, still has a chance [to move in the future] and not just to Arsenal.”

kanchelskis believe Kokorin should leave Russia and join the Premier League to become a world-class footballer. He believes the striker will not receive the same fate to what happened with Andrei Arshavin.

“Arsenal are the best option for Aleksandr’s career,” he told Reuters as quoted by Sky Sports. “If he is prepared to work a lot, he will not have any problems.

“He will not be like Andrei Arshavin and will become a top-class forward for the London club. Kokorin should jump at the chance to leave Russia and go to that country.”

In an ideal world, Arsene Wenger would sign a striker in the January transfer window, but he will rather count on his young guns to deliver. He will rather wait for Danny Welbeck and other to regain their full fitness.

Therefore, a move in the January transfer window is highly unlikely. And it is hard to predict what will happen in the summer so early. Arsenal can win the Premier League title this season and Wenger may feel the money could be used elsewhere.

We don’t know yet whether there is any genuine interest from Arsenal or any other Premier League clubs like Manchester United. Agents do say a lot of stuff just to get the attention of big clubs but most of them should not be taken so seriously.

kanchelskis is simply passing on his opinion, doesn’t necessarily mean Arsenal would sign Kokorin, or even Manchester United any time soon.
