Manchester United star: My agent dealing with Real Madrid move

Javier Hernandez

Javier Hernandez spent the last season on loan with Real Madrid from Manchester United. Although he didn’t get many games under his belt, but he always impressed whenever he was given the responsibility.

The big question is what will happen to his future now? Real Madrid have appointed a new manager, Rafael Benitez, and it remains to be seen whether the Spaniard wants to sign him permanently. So far, there hasn’t been any such indications.

Hernandez gave an interview with Marca (quotes taken from Marca newspaper version), where he says that he is unsure what future unfolds for him but he hasn’t ruled out the possibilities of sealing a permanent switch to Real Madrid and at the same time playing for Manchester United again.

When asked “Do you know where you’ll be playing next season?”, the Mexican replied: “No, I’m on holiday and waiting to know what’ll happen.”

Q: “When will you speak with Real Madrid, to know for sure if you’ll stay or not?”

Hernandez: That is something my agent is looking after. I imagine it’ll be soon.

Q: “Do you want to stay at Real Madrid?”

JH:Yes, but what I want is to go to a club where I’ll play and get minutes. If that’s Man Utd or another (side), I’ll be happy. For me that’s the priority above everything else.”

Q: “How do you see your chances of staying at Real Madrid today?”

JH: Madrid had a date by which they could buy me (for an agreed sum) and it’s gone past that. Now it’s like whichever other club and I’m a Man Utd player now. That’s the reality.

Hernandez also explained why didn’t feature in the plans of Louis van Gaal, but he feels the situation might change next season.

“Van Gaal arrived and wanted to restructure the squad, make it smaller. We didn’t have European football and he preferred to concentrate on the league and maybe didn’t want as many players because he wouldn’t be able to play them all. Now the situation has changed and there is a Champions League play off, a lot more games, and I think I’d get more opportunities (at United). I believe I have a chance to stay at United and play.”

When asked: “Do you regret anything from your stay at Real Madrid?

Hernandez said: Nothing at all. I gave everything I had, I’ve lived great moments and I’m very proud to have worn the badge. There were some tough moments but others were very nice.”

If the reports are to be believed, Manchester United are willing to sell him in the summer. Premier League club Southampton have had registered an interest in him. We’ll have to wait and see how things unfold in the coming months.
