Forward: I could be at Chelsea in January

Fans and football critics are often divided in the opinions while discussing over Chelsea’s fabled youth academy. At one hand there are enough reasons to believe that the system works, while the counter arguments are equally valid as well.

Chelsea youth team have been doing very well for a while, and have won two back to back FA Youth Cups in the past two years.

On the other hand, surprisingly, none of the youngsters are supposedly good enough to represent the Chelsea senior team.

Chelsea ship out over 20 players on an average to other clubs on loan almost every season, and it’s no coincidence that very few (Thibaut Courtois being an exception) actually make the senior grade at the club, after being recalled.

This season, they’ve sent around 30 players out of the club, and probably majority of them will face the inevitable trap of the vicious loan cycle.

There could be an exceptional case here. Chelsea winger / forward Izzy Brown, who is currently on loan to Vitesse, has claimed that he could be returning to his parent club in the January transfer window. Usually when a Chelsea player is sent on loan, he is seen as a surplus to requirements with no realistic chance of bringing the player back within the season.

Brown said in an interview to Voetbal International, relayed by Calciomercato:

“Apparently I will stay here until next summer , but there is a possibility of Chelsea taking me back to base this winter or the Vitesse send me back to Stamford Bridge.”

In any case, even if Brown is recalled during the January transfer window, expect Chelsea to send him on loan again, preferably to a Championship club.
