Manchester United and Louis van Gaal will travel to Merseyside for the weekend Premier League fixture as they face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

The club football returns after less than two weeks of break later this weekend. Louis van Gaal saw his side suffer a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal at the Emirates in the last legaue fixture.

United will take on Roberto Martinez’s side in the next fixture. For their trip to Liverpool, the preparation has already started as players need to train for the clash against the Toffees. The Manchester United Evening News reports five players were absent from Thursday’s training session.

Those five players are Spanish stars of Juan Mata and David de Gea, South American duo of Antonio Valencia and Sergio Romero and England international Ashley Young. The latter was not on international duty as he was not picked by Roy Hodgson for the last two Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania.

Young missing from the training session just two days before the match could raise concern as who will feature in the full-back position when United face Everton. Valencia can play as a right-back, which will then allow summer signing Matteo Darmain move to left-back.

However, Valencia was with Ecuador and played for his national side during their victory over Bolivia. He had a long journey on his way back to Manchester and so did goalkeeper Romero. He was involved in Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay and is yet to join his fellow teammates at AON Training Complex.

Mata and De Gea were involved in Spain’s Euro 2016 qualifier victory over Ukraine. The duo jetted in from Ukraine and flew to Manchester. They were not spotted on the training ground, but the former Chelsea star was pictured at United’s base collected the club’s Player of the Month award.

There has been no news of injuries regarding these five players. They all could be joining the first team players for the training session on Friday. However, Van Gaal has a tough task in selecting his team as United play three crucial fixtures, starting from Saturday.
