CONFIRMED: Luke Shaw ruled out for four weeks with hamstring injury
The England international arrived at Old Trafford from Southampton earlier in June as he was set to replace Patrice Evra in the squad. Despite signing a one-year contract extension in May, the French international left the Red Devils and joined Juventus earlier in the summer transfer window.
Shaw was ruled out for United’s pre-season friendly against Valencia as Louis van Gaal won his first game in charge as the Red Devils’ manager at Old Trafford. The left-back will now be on the sidelines for a month with an injury.
“The England international, a summer signing from Southampton, is likely to be sidelined for around four weeks. Shaw sat out the friendly victory against Valencia at Old Trafford due to the problem and faces a wait before making his competitive debut for the club.”
Shaw now joins midfielder Michael Carrick and Anderson as the casualties as these three players will miss the first few games of the new season. In addition to this, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager confirmed injuries to Antonio Valencia and Jonny Evans after United’s 2-1 victory over the La Liga outfit on Tuesday.
