Chelsea v Arsenal - Terry’s nasty injury (video)

Written by Ahmed Bilal

Update #1: Terry returned to the Millennium Stadium an hour after being carried off the ground on a stretcher to celebrate the cup win with his teammates. Brave man, but I hope Chelsea give him a rest for a while.

For a discussion of the match (including the fight at the end), read Chelsea 2-1 Arsenal - Fabregas and Lampard deserved red cards.

For videos of the 3 goals, read Chelsea 2-1 Arsenal - Goal videos.

Now as far as we know, Terry’s off to the hospital, he’s conscious and hopefully he’s alright. Diaby’s foot hit him flush in the face and the way he fell and the way his head bounced off the ground, it was clear that he had been immediately knocked out.

Hopefully it’s just a concussion and does not require anything serious. The neck brace, as far as I know, was for precaution and there isn’t any real damage incurred in that area, which is a relief.

Will be updating this page as soon as more news comes in.

For now, here’s the video:

  1. I can NEVER, NEVER, NEVER understand why Terry would even think of going in with his head for the ball. You would definitely expect someone to KICK it.

  2. mm fuck off you twat, i think its called a high fucking foot, hardly a diving header was it u prick. Did he even touch the ball? NO terry got the head first. Cunt.

  3. easy Richard calm down mate! I have to say though you’ll never see Terry back out of a challenge he is superb, the man is someone all the fancy players should look at!!! Im Man Utd and seeing this shocked me. glad to see he is okay now and he’ll be back in no time again! I hope his Mrs wasn’t watching though, my Mrs almost cried for him, terrible, Crouch, Cech now Terry WILL ALL PLAYERS BE WEARING HELMETS SOON, POSSIBLE DEBATE THEIR AHMED!

I think it was very significant that Cech held it together after Terry was stretchered off. The camera panned to him while Terry was down and he looked like he was reliving his own harrowing experience. Not that I necessarily wanted it to be true, but I thought he may have been rattled enough for Arsenal to get something past him. But he did really well to focus on the task at hand. Good job.

I too, was surprised that Cesc and Lampard were only shown yellows. I thought they deserved to go off as much as any of the players. But up until that point, I was very impressed with my young Gunners.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Baptista is a total waste? I really hope Wenger sends him back to Real Mandrid at the end of the loan. Except for his one phenomenal game in January, I just don’t think he adds anything to the squad. It’s like he’s still struggling to fit into the polished style of Arsenal football.

Terry was unfortunate to get kicked but itwas hardly like Diaby meant to do it it was accidental neither of them could have forseen it. Arsenal played well good and no Baptisa is a good player.
