Chelsea Transfer Round Up: Latest on Lindelof, Lukaku and Candreva

EPL Table

Chelsea are expected to remain busy in the transfer market as Antonio Conte has reportedly requested Roman Abramovich, the Blues owner, to sanction him at least five new signing before the start of the new 2016/17 campaign. Without further ado, let’s check the major transfer stories:

Blues ready to pay Victor Lindelof’s release clause

Chelsea have reportedly told Benfica they’re ready to pay Lindelof’s release clause which is thought to be around £25m. Benfica are planning to offer the defender a new contract as they want him to stay for one more season.

Lindelof enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Lisbon last season and has made 26 appearances for the Eagles. In fact, the player himself is not keen to move to an elite club at the moment and wants to develop at the Portuguese club before moving elsewhere.

From Chelsea’s perspective, the deal makes a lot of sense. First of all, Lindelof would cost them less money, comparatively, to their other reported targets. But most importantly he is only 22 and has a great future ahead of him. He will bolster Chelsea’s core defence with skipper John Terry is expected to see his role diminish under Conte in the 2016/17 season.

Conte wants Lazio winger Antonio Candreva

Will Candreva be moving out of Lazio this summer? According to reports in Italy, Lazio are not willing to sell the Italian on loan rather they want €25m for the 29-year-old winger. Inter Milan have reportedly offered €20m but Lazio want their transfer demands to be met.

Inter, however, could face a strong competition from Chelsea, as Antonio Conte is reportedly willing to bring him to Stamford Bridge ahead of the new season.

Latest on Romelu Lukaku

The Everton striker has reportedly told his friends that he wants to join Chelsea. He believes that a transfer back to his former club is still possible,  according to The Sun.

Good luck with that Romelu but Chelsea won’t pay €60-65m (price being quoted) to re-sign their former player. The slim chance of the deal to go through is only possible if Chelsea sell Diego Costa, which at this moment seems unlikely.
