Chelsea: Mourinho hints move for Radamel Falcao
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has dropped a huge hint recently about his transfer policy for the summer hinting that Colombia international Radamel Falcao is in his sights.
The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the past, but chose to join French giants Monaco instead. Mourinho has admitted that Chelsea are currently missing a striker but dropped a hint that the Blues could be interested in Falcao.
The Portuguese admitted that getting the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani are not possible but admitted that he is interested in Falcao saying Monaco are not big enough for a player of his stature.
Falcao scored 70 goals in 91 appearances for Atletico Madrid before making a shock move to Monaco in a £50m deal.
“The problem at Chelsea is that we are missing a striker. I have one in [Samuel] Eto’o but he is 32, possibly 35, who knows?”, Mourinho said in an interview with the French television station Canal Plus, before adding – “I don’t have Falcao but Falcao doesn’t have a club. Who wants to play in front of 3,000 supporters? If I was one day to go to Monaco it would be the end.”
Mourinho also rejected the suggestions that star midfielder Eden Hazard could be tempted to join PSG, saying the club want the Belgian to stay for 10 years at least.
According to transfermarkt.com, Falcao could cost in the region around €60m. The question is, should Chelsea pay such high transfer fee (even if it is around £40-45m) for a striker who will approach 30′s in two years’ time?
