According to German newspaper Sportbild, Chelsea’s David Luiz is a January transfer target for Bayern Munich.

The Champions League holders have shown an interest in the maverick defender, according to the report, and are willing to pay the rumoured €29m asking price.

Pep Guardiola is said to be a fan of the Brazilian, and was said to be interested in taking Luiz to the Nou Camp when he was the Barcelona manager.

The Blues have so far rejected any approaches for Luiz, who performed superbly in the centre of midfield during last week’s 2-1 win over Liverpool.

Currently behind both John Terry and Gary Cahill in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, a move to Bayern would surely be an attractive alternative for the charismatic 26-year-old.

Meanwhile, the saga of Kevin De Bruyne has taken a rather unexpected twist, with the latest reports indicating that the Belgian will not be allowed to permanently leave in the January transfer window.

It had been thought that the marginalised De Bruyne would make a swift exit this month, with his agent Patrick De Koster explaining that his client has his heart set on a move away,

“It’s a World Cup year and for this reason he needs to play,”  De Koster today told Press Association Sport,

“Now in the next few hours or days, we will see if somebody finds an agreement with Chelsea. If there is an agreement I will speak with the player about what we will do. His preference is to go back to the Bundesliga. There have been discussions with Wolfsburg and other clubs.”

But despite the words of his agent, Press Association Sport (via Eurosport) understand that Chelsea do not want the Belgian to leave Stamford Bridge this winter.

Mourinho is said to be prepared to give the 22-year-old more playing time this January, and is refusing to entertain the idea of losing the player with the Blues still fighting on three domestic and European fronts this season.

The Portuguese boss will reportedly allow De Bruyne to leave at the end of the month if he is still unhappy, but only on loan, something that may cause even more issues,

“Another loan wouldn’t be good for the player or the club,” said De Koster

“The player and his family would like to secure a permanent solution because he has been out on loan already twice.

Considering the competition at the Bridge, his current irrelevance on the sidelines, and the numerous links between the player and Bundesliga, surely it is just a matter of time before he makes his Chelsea departure?
