Striker comments on Arsenal transfer rumours

Arsenal Transfer News

Joel Campbell was one of the best performers for Costa Rica in the FIFA World Cup 2014, however, he has struggled to get regular games for the Gunners that has fuelled lots of Arsenal transfer rumours surrounding his future.

The 22-year-old has yet to start for Arsenal in the league, and has only managed two sub appearances and 37 minutes of football action so far.

Quite natural, he needs regular regular game time under his belt. Italian press are dishing out constant rumours that Campbell could be off to Inter Milan, who are looking to do some smart loan deals, in January.

Benfica was also thought to be one of the interested parties for Campbell’s signature. In the summer, there were even reports that agent of Campbell held talks with the Portuguese giants, but the deal collapsed in the end.

Campbell, however, feels that he is not perturbed with the situation at the moment and that he is happy at Arsenal.

“What they have been saying is not true — I’m very calm. I have not been furious,” he said in the video on his official website (via ESPN).

“Obviously, yes, I would like to be playing, but that’s something that has to be earned day by day. I have to keep training and waiting for the opportunity. I know it’s a very competitive team.

“Arsenal is one of the best teams in the world, where there are many important players. I have to be patient, keep training and I know my chance will arrive and I’ll have to take advantage of it when it comes.

“[I’ve learned] a lot [from Wenger]. He is a coach who has many years in football and with Arsenal. I am learning from him and from my peers every day in training. I’m doing my best to be a better player every day.”

Well, Campbell has shown great professionalism here, but he could highly move to other foreign clubs in January to get regular games. A move to Inter Milan or Benfica could be ideal for him.
