Arsenal boosted as star rubbishes latest injury fears

Santi Cazorla

Arsenal star midfielder Santi Cazorla has ruled any potential latest injury setback and revealed that he is on course to return to action.

The Spain international has been on the sidelines since last November and underwent surgery to correct an external knee ligament problem. He had earlier admitted that he is targeting a return in the Champions League second leg clash against Barcelona in March.

However, Sky Sports reported Cazorla is out of action for the entire season with an Achilles injury and his chances of making it to the national squad was doubtful. However, Cazorla has taken on the social network to rubbish those rumours and admitted that he will return to action on April 1.

This new will come as a boost for Arsenal as they look to win the title for the first time for over a decade. It should be seen whether the return of Cazorla in the final stage of the season will help the Gunners in helping them win the title.

However, surprisingly this news came out after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed the former Malaga midfielder has “some Achilles problems.”

“Santi is not doing too well. He has some Achilles problems that hold him back. His knee is doing well but his Achilles has inflamed a little bit and we have to put him off impact,” Wenger said, as quoted by the London Evening Standard.

“We have to see now how he responds. He had always a little tendonitis on his Achilles and we have to see how he responds to that.”
