Arsenal back in for Liverpool’s Alonso?

Arsenal back in for Liverpool’s Alonso?

How’s this for a little irony? According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal could be set to turn to Xabi Alonso yet again to strengthen their midfield.

I can’t help but have a small chuckle at this one, considering that Alonso is the one who, you know, is responsible for Cesc Fabregas being laid up. I’m sure there are no hard feelings there, considering that they’re international teammates, but you might not be able to say that about everyone else.

However, it’s safe to say that you can nip this one in the bud. As much as Arsenal have been linked with Alonso from the summer until now, and as many concrete offers have reportedly been made, Liverpool are not selling someone who’s in top form. And if they do, it’s not going to be a price that Arsenal are willing to pay, especially for someone who’s cup-tied for the Champions League.

Do you think there’s any chance Arsenal could snap up Alonso in January?

No chance! He’s having a great season, but let’s not forget that Rafa would have off-loaded him in the summer had he signed Barry.

Underlines the ‘quality’ of Rafa’s transfer dealings….a favourite subject of mine!
