3 reasons why Ribery is NOT going to Tottenham
The following post contains heavy doses of sarcasm and leg-pulling. Take it on the chin folks, after all, it’s all true
Ya know, once in a while, some realism would be nice.
The rumours linking Franc Ribery to Tottenham persist despite this author’s best efforts to shoot them down as trash. This is not to mean that Tottenham are a poor club - no sir, they are a growing club with excellent potential and as it has been so eloquently said, a left-winger and right-back (and a 4th striker) away from true greatness.
However, what people really fail to understand is that Ribery cannot, will not, and should not come to Tottenham. There are plenty of reasons, but I’ll stick to just three for now.
Reason No. 1
The will-not - Franc Ribery has openly stated that he wants to play in the Champions League, and Tottenham cannot offer it this year. While I agree that Tottenham are just a season away from it, Ribery has made it clear that he can’t wait.
Reason No. 2
The should-not - This one is a bitter pill to swallow, but the reality is that if Ribery wants to have a long, prosperous career, he shouldn’t head towards Tottenham. Not that he would have a bad career there - hell no. Rather, I say this because he’s already a big star, and would disrupt Tottenham’s plans for fostering team spirit and growing the team together. Plus he’s a diver, and we don’t want dirty players corrupting our youth at Tottenham (look what happened to Arsenal - even Henry is diving now!)
Reason No. 3
The can-not - This is also true, actually. Ribery can’t go to Tottenham because his agent is insisting on getting paid to convince his client, and Tottenham, being such an upright and honest club, would never dare to break the law in this case. Unfortunately for all football-loving fans, that makes it impossible for us to see Ribery grace White Hart Lane.
Satisfied? Can we please drop the false rumours now, and concentrate on something more concrete, such as Mido’s supposed medical, selling Andy Reid and the non-transfers of Petrov, Downing and Chimbonda?
COYS!
Disclaimer Part 1: Of course, the real reason Ribery is not going to Tottenham is because you guys are not as good as Lyon, Arsenal, Manchester United or Real Madrid. Oh, and he’s never heard of Tottenham either.
Disclaimer Part 2: I like Tottenham, I really do, plus I’m a Manchester United fan, not an Arsenal fan for all of you readying their nasty comments

LOL Spurs where the first club linked with Ribery 18 months ago. Thats why there is this link, futhermore Comoli and Ribbery have a good realation ship from his last post in fance
ahhh your one of the ones clogging the m25 on saturday mornings
Whilst it is noted that you have taken time out of your busy schedule in order to write this article i cant help but wonder why you would choose to make another club your chosen topic of conversation? although your stumbling article occasionally strikes upon a valid point you still come across as a spurs anti-fan rather than a manc.
I have added this article in various sites and adding here as well..
Ribery can not move without his previous club Galatasaray`s consent because he has left GS end of last season claiming he was not paid but GS apparently produced signed documents to FIFA and Ribery at the moment playing for Marseille with a TEMPORARY LICENCE and FIFA rules will not allow him to play for another club with Temporary licence ..Unless GS agrees to his transfer or FIFA decides sooner rather than later ribery can not move.
If anyone dont believe me go and do your own search..GS will be demanding as much money for Ribery transfer or any fee involved will be shared in between L`OM and GS of Turkey.
Otherwise Ribery deal to another team would have been done by now..
There are articles carrying facts which you can find on the internet.

From GS management..
Ribery: No agreement
The row between Galatasaray and Olympique Marseille over French midfielder Franck Ribery rumbles on. Ribery walked out to join Marseille in June claiming that Galatasaray had not paid him. The club insists that it did and that he was in breach of contract by leaving. It has turned down an offer of 3 million euros from Marseille and Galatasaray director Mehmet Helvaci told journalists that it prefers to leave the matter to FIFA arbitration. “We are not in favor of reaching an agreement (outside arbitration),” Helvaci said. “If we go down that road we think we can get more money than has been offered but we will not do so.”

Read the second paragraph..
And please check the temporary licencing rule of FIFA..
Spurs after receiving a huge sum of money from Manure are in position to purchase a number of quality players.. Ribery it is unlikely as they have yet to make a bid!!

and check FIFA temporary licencing rules
wot big al is sayin is true!!! im turkish and have read it on the turkish sites!!! but i also think ribery is a creative mid rather then a left wing and hes right footed!!! would lk to see him sign but also would not lk to see us waist r money on a disruptive player who might change the team morale!!! he left GS in a disruptive way wen gs wanted him to stay, got lucky by fifa to accept a tempory licence to play for L’OM without GS gettin a transfer fee!!! and he plays 1 season at L’OM and hes doin the same to them!!! so tell me if im wrong does that sound lk a player u want at ur club, well if u judge on how he plays and his age yes please but if u look at the trouble he causes no thx, unless he garatees us he wont be leavin soon!!! i say we offer the money we made of carrick to Morten Gamp Pederson, as hes young and class and will fit perfectly in r squad!!! but as much as i think hes r best option i cant see a deal being done!!! all in all ders denilson and ze roberto on free transfers we could look at as they wont cost a transfer fee!!! and ben arfa links sounded lk the policy in players we look at, and hes cheap not sure if any1 signed him yet!!! and i herd martin petrov was a striker in germany b4 his time in spain so i duno how gd of a winger he is!!! thats the best i could see of us gettin any left wings!!! 1 player i would love to see in are right bk position would be Daniel Alves, i would pay his askin price too unlike liverpool!!! but thats an unlikely transfer too, so i say ifil for the right bk!!! wot u think!!!
Good article, most of which I agree with, however I do feel that if you offered enough money Ribery would probably go to Bolton yet alone Tottenham, he could do alot worse than Tottenham and probably will!!
Big al is right see link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franck_Rib%C3%A9ry
I’m a Spurs fan. Ribery isn’t coming, neither is Chimbonda andluckily for us, neither is Downing. As always with Spurs it will probably be someone nobody has ever heard of in the last few days of the deadline or somebody nobody expected. Not sure why you’re interested in Spurs, maybe it’s because you know that Man Ure aren’t going to do anything this season and you need a good honest, English team to support in the coming season?
we are better than Lyon, but the qualify for CL each as they r in a shit league. if spurs were in any other league then the prem we would qualify for CL wach yr
A Spurs fan doesn’t want divers to corrupt their youth?
Tim Sherwood, Jurgen Klinsmann, Teddy Sheringham and Edgar Davids are VERY hurt at such comments that degrade their contributions to the rise (well, whatever that’s worth) of Tottenham.
Jurgen! maybe before he joined us, but never at Spurs and as for Sherwood, Sherringham and Davids… you must be wareing goon tinted glasses!
hold on hold on……did anyone actually watch the world cup? for that matter, did anyone see olympique play last season?
if you did you would have seen a crafty but otherwise average winger who lacks pace. I’m talking in terms of world quality here…..not nearly good enough for Chelsea, Milan, Madrid…..maybe an ok player for the likes of fallen giants like Liverpool, Man U and Spurs.
Let Lyon have him, we have plenty to replace him. 20 million euros? yes please gentlemen!
for ever olympique

I actually think Ribery could fit in nicely at Spurs.
His youth, ability and pace make him the perfect match for a young dynamic club such as Tottenham.
Reason number 4.
My wife even came with me to The Lane when Teddy played. She thought it was a good idea to spend money on extras to sky when Ginola was with us. But christ…Ribery…I’ll be back to watching match of the bloody day!
1. I think he is extremely over-rated and NOT worth his price.
2.He was terrib’le in the world cup.
3.We have a lovely new kit… Do we really want to see his face, gracing Pumas creation?
Send him to the throwback looking nomads… he will fit right in; with all the nonces at ‘Sighbury’!
loggez you are spot on!!!
i have seen Ribery play on numerous occasions, and he has yet to impress me.
i would be very suprised if he managed to swing a move to madrid or utd.
would laugh my head off if he went to arsenal!!!!!
don’t worry about who spurs are or are’nt going to buy.
let teams like newcastle go out and panic buy(chelsea rejects..unproven forwards like martins)
i trust jol and commolli.
these guys make a living unearthing quality young players, and turning them into top footballers.
Ribery unfortunatly has the markings of a gooner who has stated on other links, he would rather sign for Wigan or Portsmouth than the Yids. He`s a greedy bastard as well.
Whats with the bold words?
If Ribery hasn’t heard of Spurs then he probably has no idea why United paid 18 mill for one of their players, why would he want to go there and play with players he didn’t know existed!!!!
There are also some other reasons
1. Not a Spurs player. Spends half the game on the floor. Better suited at the South London Nomads.
2. Overrated. Spends the other half of the game kicking it wide for goalkicks.
3. Overpriced. For someone whos main attributes are 1 & 2
I seem to remeber beating Lyon the last time we played them and that was when Essien was still there. To say that he hasn’t heard of the mighty spurs is just plain rubbish and to say that Lyon are a stronger side than us is just delirium. I know you think that Fergie is gonna pull off some kind of magic this season but look at the facts. Players know that a move to Man USA means a big pay rise, but guess what, they could hint at a west london side and get probably 30% more than what you guys would pay them its no wonder players are reluctant to join a sinking ship. If I were a Man U fan I would be spending more time worrying about the fact that the Glazers have just mortgaged your ground for 700million in future ticket sales…. I ask you why??? I wouldn’t be surprised if bankrupcy will be the next chapter in Manchester’s up and down history. It could be Chapter 11 and over and out! and thats from a spurs fan. This is the only post going up from me and I guess I’ll see the moderation??????????? Bullers
I agree that i cant see him coming to spurs but i remember being at the land for the u21 game v france and he was head an shoudlers above everyone else and looked a superb player
exactley what we need but cant see it happening unfortunatley
If Ribery aint heard of Spurs then the Pope is a Muslim - he played at White Hart Lane last year for the French U21 side.
Spurs fans must be realistic. Their team only got 5th position last season thanks to Souness doing it again at Newcastle. With all the troubles at Highbury, the Spuds should have overtaken Arses by miles to cement their gloating CL ambition. But as always, Spurs are only good at attracting either young, unproven but cheap stars or aging reject stars from Europe’s big clubs. Lets face it, the Spuds will never ever become a top 6 let alone a top 4 team in England. It’s that simple.
erm, isnt 5th place in the top 6?
Oh and dont ypu need that 2 win 2 league tittles and 2 Ueafa cups.
Necastle wouldnt have got more than 67 points last season, even with Brian Cluff in charge.
And if ‘only bying youngsters’ means unearthing players like Robbinson, Dawson, Carrick, Lennon e.t.c im happy to stick with that.
Furthermore, all you have to do is look at the amount of spurs players in the England team. 6 if you include the injured Ledly King.
has anyone put this into perspective on this site yet, i admit that ribery is a good player but how good is he? he is four years older than lennon and i cannot think of a single performance from him that eclipses our dynamic winger. if scarface is worth 16m then what lennon? would anyone swap ours for him, no a fucking chance. if he goes to the darkside then so what, the only reason there is so much hype around him is because the best left winger in the premiership is happy, is he any much better then reyes? i dont think so. Let The Force Be With Us.
Dan, yeah Spuds got 5 called up by McClaren… 5 for the substitutes bench… to give them some international experience. who knows, the young unproven lads ‘might’ be worth something ‘in future’. lets face it, they not gonna give u chance to overtake arsenal and newcastle, are they?
i think youll find robinson has been an ever-present for the past 2 years
i think carrick has proven he is ‘worth somthing’ by being sold for £18.6m
Wahts it with necastle, we have won more in the last 7 years that necastle in the last 30!!!!
[…] Tottenham: No Champions League football, no Tottenham. It’s harsh on Tottenham, because they are the ones who need a quality left-winger the most, but without Champions League football to offer Ribery (or Nani) won’t be coming to play for Tottenham. We spoke about this last summer as well, but people got pissed off. Of course, it could all turn around and bite me in the ass, but I’m pretty sure it’s not going to happen. […]
