William Gallas exposes Arsenal to more bad press, Wenger must take action
I came across these comments by William Gallas and was amused / concerned. A couple of things came to mind:
One, he’s a twit for talking to the press like this but we know that already (and have discussed this countless times) so let’s move on, if Wenger puts up with it we can put up with it as well.
Two, he’s made plenty of mistakes himself so he needs to admit those in public before criticising others. In fact, and this is not a criticism of Arsenal but more one of the press, Arsenal have been in the press for several times for the last few seasons with ‘reports’ of ‘disharmony’ in the ranks. This is not on. If there’s a real problem, Wenger should deal with it. If there isn’t, then Wenger should ensure that nothing, not even an innocent ‘we’re under pressure’, is said to the press.
It’s not the players who will suffer, it’s the fans and once the fans’ minds are poisoned, there’s no way back for a player (think Ronaldo).
Three, the man has pretty much nailed Adebayor to the mast with the age and contract indicators (Adebayor is about the right age, has just received a new contract and was on the pitch throughout the 4-4 Arsenal v Spurs game (BBC’s match report). Yes, the article I linked to at the top names RVP, Sagna and Eboue, but personally I don’t find them capable of doing something like this. If anyone knows (or has a theory on) who Gallas is talking about, let us know.
This isn’t good for Arsenal, it’s not good for the game, and it’s time Wenger sorted this out in-house because the press will have a field day with the fallout to this one.

I think Gallas is talking about Van Persie, back in his Feyenoord days he was known as a difficult boy. And after Euro 2008 he showed (together with Sneijder) that his ego is still somewhat to big. So I think it is Van Persie who he is talking about. But that said, I think if you would compare the ego’s of Van Persie and Gallas, Van Persie would look like someone with a inferiority complex.
Hello, i am a dutchman, like Robin van Persie, but also a great fan of arsenal.
I’ve heard some storys about a 25-years old player.
There are three players withe an age of 25:
Sagna, Eboué and RvP.
I’ve also read something about a fight in the dressing room (, between Theo walcott and Robin van Persie (25).
I can remember Robin van Persie was not an easy boy, when he played for his former-club Feyenoord Rotterdam. He was a boy with a great perseverance and a great talent. But he had a darkside it was a boy who made problems, and he was rude and egoistic.
An example: He refused to drive in the car of the sponsor from Feyenoord and requiered an other car (Audi). When Robin did not got it, he came back with a Mercedes, that he had to park outside the parking place from Feyenoord because the sponsor was not so happy with it.
Its obvious he’s talking about RVP. Anyway he has confirmed what all of us knew but failed to admit in public, that making him captain was Wenger’s biggest mistake. Wenger brushed aside one of the most underrated players of the century in Gilberto for that and that will haunt him and us gooners for many years. Gallas please shut up and GTF out of Arsenal…………….
While it’s not Gallas’ fault that this unnamed man is being a disruptive force in the locker room, it does reflect badly on Gallas’ leadership abilities, or lack thereof. Fights between teammates happen all the time, but it’s important for the captain and the manager to handle things internally. If you have a captain that attacks a player through the press, then it’s only going to undermine the locker room even more.
Look at it this way. Would said individual have ever have had the balls to pull something like this if Vieira were still captain? I doubt it.
and they all come tumbling down. pretty soon fabregas, walcott, vela, clichy heck the whole lot will jump ship. Arsenal is falling apart.
You wish ‘the red half of manchester’, you wish it would………..
Gallas is, and always has been, a lose cannon. Ever since his transfer fiasco and the public slanging match with Mourinho/Chelsea it was glaringly obvious that this guy did not have the temprement to be a captain or a leader.
Making this kind of thing public is not acceptable. How far is Wenger prepared to go before stripping Gallas of the captaincy or getting rid altogether?
There has been ongoing disharmony in the Arsenal dressing room for several seasons and its a sign of the times. What Arsenal need is some mature pros who would die for the badge and have grown up with the club. Think Adams, Dixon, Seaman, Parlour etc.
Some say that the all foreigner, all youth thing doesn’t matter but this is where the rubber hits the road and its hurting Arsenal. No doubt.
