Why are you a football fan?
Thanks to Ollie over at Who Ate All The Pies for putting the link up.
In simple terms, this is why you watch football.
You’ll have to wait 22 seconds before you see what I’m talking about.
A couple of people (Arsenal fans, btw), shot me down when I praised the YouTube video of Baptista, Denilson and Gilberto for showing us the human side of football.
It’s your choice whether you want to be a shameless cynic and and indulge in hatred (and parallel self-glorification), or if you just want to appreciate the game and the spirit as it is. Unfortunately, after seeing a player dive, we take the wrong action. When we should be pressuring the FA (or other footballing authorities) to help remove this practice from football, we tend to criticise the team, the player, the referee, the opposing fans…
Oh well. Enjoy the clip. Maybe I’m reading too much into it
But do tell me why you’re a football fan.

Before when i played FIFA 98,i fell in love with the game, not football, but the football game itself…
Now i’ve outgrown the game and since gotten into the real Beautiful Game…
Btw i’m now the playmaker for my team;Home United FC…
And also now i play Winning Eleven Soccer/Pro Evolution Soccer;very very nice…
Is this what it’s coming to these days?? Becoming a football fan because of computer games?? Falling in love with some graphics and pixels, instead of the atmosphere, crunching tackles, the ball hitting the back of the net, the smell of greasy hotdogs and burgers on a Saturday afternoon. The walk up Sir Matt Busby Way, the way fans bay for blood at not getting their way? The euphoria of beating your nearest rivals, avoiding relegation in the last minute of the last game of the season.
No? All down to FIFA? LOL
Crazy!
Reason why i became a football fan - My old man had me dressed in United gear before you had a chance to blink. So, ultimately i became a football fan, because i was far too young to choose! God bless my old man! LOL
The reason i remained a football fan, apart from the above of course, is the emotions, the passion of the crowd. The meeting some mates down the local pub, before a train/coach/car or flight to the game. Have been watching United since i was four, and i wouldn’t have it any other way!
Love the days out, cold, rain or shine! The away games, when you know you’re with and part of the hardcore fans. The singing, the chanting, getting a wave from Fergie.
Need i go on??? LOL
“Football! Bloody Hell!” - Sir Alex Ferguson, interviewed after United beating Bayern Munich at the Nou Camp, 1999
Is it just my imagination or did Essien say they deserved the ‘three points’? Figure of speech or did he get into the lagar the second he got off the pitch?
What does “get into the lagar” mean?
DBeech - someone mentioned elsewhere that Chelsea did the same thing after the Carling Cup win.
