Who will virus-struck Manchester United play against Tevez’s Manchester City?

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson confirms he has not decided who is in the squad for the near trip to Manchester City.

The Red Devils travel to the City Of Manchester Stadium on the back of a narrow 2-1 win against Wolverhampton on Saturday evening, and are now looking for the chance to actually go top if Chelsea fail to pick up maximum points against Blackburn tomorrow night.

United will certainly be without Wayne Rooney, who is in Chicago preparing for a fit and perfectly-physical return to the Premier League, and Owen Hargreaves who suffered a hamstring injury just 5 minutes into his first start for the senior team since September 2008.

However, good news is that striker Dimitar Berbatov will be back from a virus, and weakened Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, and Paul Scholes (due to the virus) back fit for the challenge.

Manchester United’s problems with the injury list have left gaffer Sir Alex confused with who to pick for the derby, and the Scot is worried knowing that several players were sent home during training due to the merciless flu.

Ferguson said at a pre-match news conference:

“We’ve no idea at all (on the team for Wednesday), we’ve still got some players out with flu and some players were sent home yesterday.”

“So we’re not in a great position at the moment. Hopefully tomorrow we’re better, but there seems to be a lingering aspect of this virus going around and there’s nothing we can do about it. We’ve a strong squad and we just carry on.”

Ferguson also discussed Hargreaves’ case, confirming it will take some 5 weeks.

The 29 year-old joined United in the summer of 2007 for 17 million pounds from German outfit Bayern Munich and has only, since then, started a hand full of games.

“We’re at that stage where we’re sure his knee is okay.”

“His training performances in the previous eight or nine days were terrific. He had done really well, which is why we took the chance. But maybe the tension in the buildup for the lad was too much and he suffered because of it.”
