The same does not apply for Italy... all TV rights are equally distributed through all Serie A and Serie B teams. And you think the Serie A isn't competitive? Go look at the results from this season.

Well last season Ligue1 had the most 0-0 draws than the other top leagues in Europe, so perhaps that's where the boring sentiment emerged. However, I can't recall anyone really suggesting Ligue1 is actually boring, but then again I guess you've used the question in the title rhetorically :)

I've always enjoyed watching Ligue1 games, particularly Lille last season with the likes of Bastos and Hazard capable of pulling something out of nothing.

Marseille - likely to qualify? I like your optimism. However with the need to beat AC Milan and draw with Real Madrid, likely is stretching it too far. I hope so, but don't expect.

>"Match of the century"
Not talking about Italy 4–3 West Germany at the Azteca?

>Ribery to Bayern, Lucho to Marseille etc.
Care to develop the "etc."? Perhaps a few more "big names"? How about Vieiri (Monaco), Heinze (Marseille), Morientes (Monaco and Marseille), Brandão (Marseille)...

>Ligue 1 and Bundesliga are the most competitive in Europe
>>Lyon winning 7 titles in a row
>>Germany only managing to get one club out of three past the group round of the CL three seasons in a row
Perhaps a touch more explanation of what the criteria for "competitive" were would be interesting. Because if it's "unpredictable", then I'm sure you'd like to get acquainted with the Finnish, Mongolian and Togolese leagues. They're hell unpredictable. I wouldn't exactly call them competitive though.

>fair money distribution of TV-rights
English Premier League has this too. As does the J-League. And various other leagues around the world (MLS, A-League, K-League...). I doubt this alone is an indicator or motor of competitiveness.

>few shock results
Grenoble sure are doing a great Derby this year.
Otherwise : record of teams qualified for the CL in 2008/09
France (3 clubs) : 18 defeats, 4 between each other, 6 defeats against "bottom 10"
Spain (4 clubs) : 36 defeats, 11 between each other, 15 defeats against "bottom 10"
That's 2 defeats against "bottom 10" clubs on average for CL clubs per season in Ligue 1, against 3,75 in La Liga.

>And you’d have to say the idea has worked.
>>Classement de l'Offensive
Was stopped after the 2006/07 season.

>a Champions League triumph by a French club is only a matter of time, Monaco already reached the final back in 2004
1993 much?
