Which football players / managers do you want to meet?

I was talking to Hasan the other day and we started discussing which football players would we like to meet the most. I gave him my list, and then I realised that it would be a good idea to ask you guys, professional football fans, for your own top 5/10 list.

Here’s my list – you can add yours in the comments below.

My top 3:

The rest (in no particular order):

Special Entry:

  • Robbie Keane ( icon smile Which football players / managers do you want to meet? )

Managers:

There are more, but these were on the top of my head. I also think that several people on this list (like Canna) would probably drop off in a couple of years, and that while I’d love to interview just about any decent player, there are some you just can’t drop (Becks).

What about you? Which players/people would you want to meet the most?

Must say Ahmed you’re selection is strange, why Essien? and Joe Cole? it looks like you’re a newbie to football, you have Beckham? you’ve practically know him through the papers anyway! also Vidic? fair enough he’s a great player and a hardnut but why would you want to meet Hargreaves! strange

    James..

I mentioned the players I respect. I also mentioned current players mainly because I think meeting a player in his prime is far better than meeting him when he’s an old hack.

Mathew Gravis – Because you don’t agree with my opinions or perspective I HAVE to write things to stir people up?

Comparing me with Caught Offside (hey Chris!) now, are you? :)

As I said, my perspective is different. I’m not talking about top footballers in the world, I’m talking about the individuals I’d like to get to know better.

Ronaldinho and Ronaldo are great players but I’m not a fan of their personality, even though I respect them immensely and would jump at the chance at meeting them.

My picks though, are people I’d like to chat with. Not play with.

Not bragging here but I’m quite fortunate that I’ve met quite a few professional footballers (and ex-pros) in my time, here’s a list of the ones I have met.

    Cristiano Ronaldo
    Paul Scholes
    Ryan Giggs
    Rio Ferdinand
    Wes Brown
    Dwight Yorke
    Ian Rush
    Alex Stepney
    Norman Whiteside
    David Sadler

A friend of mine is a professional chauffer and does a lot of work for Man U. I’ve done a bit of work for him in the past. Obviously, he’s met loads more than me including SAF, George Best, Peter Smeichel, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Tim Howard, Graeme Souness, Wayne Rooney, David Beckhan, Nicky Butt and many others. He’s also driven people like 50cent.

Personally I’d still like to meet SAF and Rooney.

i’d like to meet cristiano ronaldo, jus to know the regular human side of him.oh,and rooney cuz i DON’T like him and it would be a bit funny to see him annoyed.but there is no chance of me meeting any footballer who doesn’t play for T&T cuz i live in trinidad in the caribbean.

    Whatever, Ahmed.
The fact that you would pick Kevin Nolan over Ronaldinho says it all.
If you talk specifically about players as individuals you’d like to meet; why don’t you specify this in the start of your article, instead of letting the posters run loose with comments about your “weird” choices? With all the focus on skills, top performers and single individual players these days, -who’s the best etc.. EVEN YOU have to see that this could be misunderstood.
