Which football player do you hate the most?
Football provides us with players we hero worship and love. It also creates villains and players we loathe and detest. Here are my top 5 most hated, reviled players, past and present (you are welcome to add yours to the list in the comments below):
1) Gary Neville
He is public enemy number 1 in Liverpool. He particularly endeared himself to Liverpool fans by wildly gesticulating and baiting them after victory. He regularly stirs up the hatred and ill feeling between the two sets of fans by making derogatory statements about the city and the people of Liverpool in the media. He dreams of scoring a last minute winner at Anfield. Scousers dream of punching him. I dream of a weeping Gary Neville lying on the Athens turf as Stevie G lifts that famous trophy. Again.
2) Craig Bellamy
I support Liverpool but just can not stand him. He moans and whinges through 90 minutes of football, contesting every decision with referees, even when he is clearly in the wrong. He is not a team player. He is a non-conformist, full of his own self importance and a complete nutter, as Graeme Souness and John Arne Riise will testify. If he wants to attack defenders with a small club he should sign for Everton!. Also why does he have no neck?!
3) Eric Cantona
An absolute nutter - a sandwich short of a picnic. But what a player! If the truth be told, i really hate him because he came back from that infamous kung fu kick ban to lead Manchester United to the treble and broke my heart in the Fa Cup final. It was one of my lowest moments as a Liverpool fan. what particularly annoyed me was his arrogance and cockiness on the pitch - the way he would strut around with his chest puffed out and his collar upturned, but with the ball at his feet he was poetry in motion. But his poetry was crap- what was all that nonsense about seagulls?? A true football genius though.
4) Robbie Savage
Another player from the same mold as Bellamy, who thinks that he is better than he actually is. A player opposition fans truly hate and love to bait. He is not a football player, but a spoiler. He will hassle, harry and hack at your ankles for a whole 90 minutes. He must be a nightmare to play against. I hope somebody smacks him one of these days!
5) Clinton Morrison
He famously boasted that he could have finished 5 of the chances Owen missed in cup match against Crystal Palace. This cocky lad loved and enjoyed every minute of the ensuing media publicity and headlines. He embarrassed himself in the return leg by being the worst player on the pitch and executed his famous air shot in front of a howling , baying Kop. That incident is part of Anfield folklore now. In fact i dont loathe him, i feel pity because he made a complete twat of himself!

1) Thierry Henry - Don’t get me wrong, the guy is a genius with a football. I just hate the false image he portrays when interviewed. His true colours come out when things don’t go according to plan (ie when he dived in the world cup).
2) ‘Fat’ Frank Lampard - Most overrated player in the premiership. How anyone can compare this guy to Paul Scholes I will never know.
3) John Terry - if purely for his ‘trying to be trendy but not quite getting there, Sonic the Hedgehog’ haircut. You’re not good looking John and you never will be. And I’m a Man Utd fan and even I know that Carragher is better!
4) Craig Bellamy - agree with everything Andrew said above. He’s just got a face you’d never get tired of hitting (Bellamy that is…not Andrew).
5) Any Portugese Player - and I’m including Christiano in this. Diving is possibly the most annoying thing in the current game, and nobody does it quite so annoyingly as the Portugese.
1) Arjen Robben - He’s a diver, plus when the refs don’t call it his way, he sticks out that lower lip and pouts.
2) Robbie Savage - Complete agreement with Andrew. He’s an ankle kicking POS.
3) Christiano Ronaldo - He dives, he knows he dives, he knows the ref knows he dives. Why does he get upset when he is not rewarded for his diving?
4) El Hadji Diouf - Always pouting. By the look on his face, you’d think he didn’t enjoy playing a game for a living.
5) Ruud Van Nistelrooy - I like a goal scorer as much as the next fan, but at least try to do something other than cherry pick. Does he even run without the ball being played to him?

1) Little Michael Owen - for attempting to take on Alan Shearer’s mantle of the least interesting man in sport
2) Thierry Henry - made in his master’s image. He’s convinced he’s too cool for school when winning and a tedious conspiracy theorist when losing.
3) Robbie Keane - for his infatile forward roll with cowboy guns “celebration”.
4) Kieran Richardson - a couple of England caps does not mean he’s good enough for United. He has yet to realise this.

Zidane, Henry and Makelele. Three French men trumpeted way beyond their true abilities! Though they are all good to great players, one would think, by listening to most pundits and fans, these fellows had reached the level of Pele, Berkenbauer and Maradona.

Cesc Fabregas - Without doubt he is the ‘arse’ in arsenal. Complete loser. Always trying to pick fights he will never win anyway. Think he probably played a big part in what happened at the Carling Cup final. I don’t know who he thinks he is, but the sooner he’s out the premiership the better.

Lampard is the jammiest B-stard in the premiership. How many of his shots get deflected in? Other than that i have no reason to dislike him. Although those who think he is a bette all round footballer than gerrard are misguided.
Andrew - apparently, someone at the Guardian did an analysis of Lampard’s goals for Chelsea since he’s been playing for them (this was done in the early part of this season) and they found out that 6 out of 70+ goals were deflections.
Really? Oh well in that case i have no grounds for disliking him!

Cristiano Roanldo - The guy is a fantastic player. One of the best i’ve ever seen. Makes the crowd stand up everytime he gets the ball which is the reason every fan enjoys football. Its just a shame he has to cheat and dive the way he does. I cant stand it. He would be 10 times more famous than he already is if he cut out the gamesmanship. To top it all off, hes dating Gemma atkinson. Wanker.

I am a Man Utd fan so it is quite easy: every player that has ever played for Liverpol except Steven Gerrard and Riise… but seriuosly:
1) Cristiano Ronaldo: most Man Utd fans and girls idolize him. But he is just a bastard and a show-off. He dives, he only cares about himslef, he shoots rather than pass and is as arrogant as King Henry VIII. He is a fantastic player and I do not want him to leave but I hate his attitude to his team and teammates.
2) Simeone Perrotta: always the man with the cheap shot. He does not miss an opportunity to kick someone in the ankles or step them when they are down and then he complains to the referee for half an hour pleading his case (which is non existent). If Man Utd ever sign him I’m going to London to buy a red, Fly Emirates shirt.
3) Arsene Wenger: look mate, here is the situation: sometimes you win sometimes you lose. Get on with it!!!
4) Thierry Henry: always looks so honest and believable on the pitch. Then he does something like he did last World Cup. He is also as arrogant ans King Henry and has got that “I always have to win” attitude from that man up there |^|
