What would you pay for Ronaldinho?

Ronny

Both Internazionale and Milan have balked at Barcelona’s asking price for the former World Player of the Year - supposedly valued at 30 million Euros by the Catalan club whereas the Italians are rumoured to offering 16-20 million euros (reasonable, if you factor in that he is ‘damaged goods’ and commands high wages).

However, Ronaldinho is more than just a player. According to Forbes.com he is the second richest footballer (Goldenballs has the #1 position locked in again) and his brand value, regardless of his injuries and form, is high enough for a club to throw a few extra million Barcelona’s way.

Assuming that the club can offer Champions League football (something Thaksin Shinawatra or Mike Ashley cannot) and afford his wages, what should a club be paying for a player like Ronaldinho? He has a few years left in the tank, is almost unstoppable when on form and he will bring in the crowds and sell those shirts and push the club’s value and brand up and up. Under the right manager and coaching staff, he might become whole again.

So what would you pay for Ronaldinho? Is 20 million euros a fair price, too much or a bargain?

  1. i would pay 25 and no more, like they said, hes damaged goods, and nathan nice really nice man,

  2. So what would you pay for Ronaldinho? Is 20 million euros a fair price, too much or a bargain?

That’s a stuppid question, cause he’s more worth than that!
Fuck 20 mill. if Ronaldinho is going to AcMilan, he will be the old Ronaldinho again, he was the best player in the world, and he really is, but he dont care so much anymore about fotball ..! Thats he’s biggest problem

  3. He is worth and should be sold for no more than 20 million euros, if he was to leave he should go to Ac Milan.

  4. Let’s be honest, Ronnie is not just footballer, he is an idol that turns on millions of TV everytime he steps on the field. On form or not, he still has one or two magical moves per game tha takes away one’s breath. With that said Ronnie is worth all you can afford, Ronnie is an entertainer, he does not strike the ball the same way evrytime. With the right motivation, Ronniy is still Ronny and will bring to any stadium mucho dinero, so whatever you spend you’ll triple it. Buy Ronny at any price and motivate him as much as possible and you get yoursel a whole new ballgame. He did it at barcelona, the man is only 28 he can do it again. Remember, man’s best age is 30 so there is plenty left in Ronny

  5. around 40 mil, he is still one of the best players, and is well known and respected all around the world, players are not machines and their form dips…

his popularity is sky high, he’s got the ability to make mechandise sell like hot cakes aswell as pulling in the crowds, and he is only 28…

  6. He’s a great footballer. He could still fetch at least 30 for Barcelona.

  7. With todays international transfer rules (see the Andy Webster Case) I would say €2OM is a fair price…

  8. Ronaldinho is still the best player if in form. He just lackes motivation, i mean he has won every thing possible with barcelona, he needs a new challenge. Therefore i think even if you have to pay £45-50 million, ronaldinho is worth it .

  9. Ronny is worth more than 20 mills. To be sincere barca is making a very wrong choice of selling him, he is still very talented and would definitely do wonders next season…watch out!!!

  10. If Henry can go for 16M then why not Ronnie?

  11. or was it 14M?

  12. ´Dinho is worth so much more than just money, he gives a club recognition by being “their” player. When in form he is
undoubtley the best in the world.
It may though be one of the tuffest things to do, staying motivated when talent isn´t what you need to work on, instead fitness is.
I don´t think he is overpriced.

  13. If real madrid is willing to pay 130 millions euros for Cristiano ronald, who is by far nowhere near the status Ronaldinho has ever had. I mean c’mon the man made the fans from real madrid stand up and bow to him as he beat their team AT their home stadium WHO CAN DO THAT BUT HIM? WHO? Has cristiano made fans from liverpool, chelsea, arsenal stand up and bow to his performance at the opposite teams home ground, has kaka’ made inter fans stand up and do the same. has Zlatan made AC Milan fans do the same. simple answer NO. that is the type of quality you are getting from this man. 20 millions is an insult to his quality, performance and image. If ronaldo is worth 130mills for real Madrid, Ronaldinho is worth a heck of lot more than him.

  14. nothing compares to Ronaldinho - and nothing ever will - the money is ridiculous - FCB should hang on to him and start all over again, get rid of the other overwieghts instead….Barca have made alot of mistakes the past year or so - wise up Barca - Ronnie IS Barca - the rest are irrelevant!

he needs a manager like sir alex to sort him out, kick him in the arse and fire him up. plus for around £16 million pounds, youd make that back in sponsorship and shirt sales. we all know sir alex likes him as a player, and wanted to sign him when he went to barca.. plus if you can get him back to anything near his best and stick him in a team him up with ronaldo, rooney and tevez.. it’s a scary thought.

Ronnie should move to Manchester City, where there are no other big name players. The reason his form dipped is due to the rise of Messi. Instead of players only looking for ronnie they were also looking for Messi. He should not move to milan, everyone knows what happened to rivaldo. Great players excel when there is no competition. Just look at all the best players in the world. For example nobody challenges Kaka, Ronaldo and Gerrard for their positions. Plus remember Maradona became great not with Barcelona, Milan or Man United but with Napoli

  17. Ronaldinho is the best footballer in the world.
    Injured or not!
Everyone is getting old, just like him.
Everyone is getting injured sometimes, just like him.
The only thing we don’t know yet is how he will do after his come-back.
And I hope he won’t go to AC Milan, 16-20 milion isn’t enough for a player as Ronaldinho.
Indeed maybe Ronnie is “damaged goods” but damaged goods work too.
In the beginning everyone was like WOW you’re so good, but when he’s injured: man you suck!
That’s not the way it should be, would you like it when someone is flaming against you because you’re injured while they know it’s not your fault.

  18. Maybe Chelsea could use some technical qualities like Ronaldinho…

  19. he is worth at least £20 million. he would make up his transfer fee in shirt sales etc without even stepping on to the pitch. and if he can be trimmed down to what he looks like in the picture i expect he would be the best player in the world again. With all due respect c.ronaldo, on his day ronaldinho is easily the world’s best player who could be playing at the top level for the next 5 years. i would love wenger to sign him because he would get him fit but seeing as he would never spend that money on a 28 year old i hold little hope. I believe that he might fail at AC Milan in the same way as Rivaldo did and to certain extent ronaldo who has not been made to lose alot of weight.

i think 15 mill is fair he is injured alott and should be healthy now he will up the status of ur club and sell alotta shirts bring alotta bandwagon fans from all over the world knows spanish and portugues spanish speaking nations hed be able to market hes great 3-4 yrs lucky left hes like beckham but not english and not a pretty boy (no homo)

  21. I say 32 mil. If he goes to AC, boy will they get money. Inter have too many stars already, but I’m a Juve fan and I wouldn’t want Roni at La Vecchia Signora.

  22. I am forced to reply to a done subject; I guess some of you still do not know or do not undersatand how big Ronny is. 20,40 60, The man is worth more than money, infact you could hire him to put on the bench and have him play the last ten minutes of every game and you would still make whatever you paid for him and then some. You guys have to realize that spanish club and most of the european club do not give the sudamericans any chance to get back in form, the minute they dip in form the media and everyon else complaint about their nocturnal behavior as if they paid them to be a machine. Ronny is fine, he’s gained some weight but we are talking professional that have money and special trainer. He is going to be back with motivation or not. I expect the man to come back and play at least some great soccer up to the world cup where is going to play his last best mark my wors.

  23. £500 - so he can get some new teeth :)
