Beckhams freekicks and corners are massively overrated. In the England game against Andorra the vast majority of his corners did not beat the first defender and his general free kick taking hasnt been that impressive for a few years. However, his passing is still phenomonal and his ability to create space and pick the right pass should be utilised for Galaxy to get the best out of him.

The Galaxy did play Beckham out wide on the right last year. The problem was that he was largely stranded there. All opposing teams know that the plan is to get him the ball so that he can cross it in to the attack and they put a lot of defensive pressure on the rest of the team to make sure that didn't happen. Also, with all due respect -- and I think there were some valiant young players on that team -- to put it gently there was a lack of passing accuracy to get the ball to him when he was open. Donovan had the same isolation problem when he played on the right earlier this season.

The MLS should count themselves lucky they have him. I would love to see Becks back in the Prem where he belongs.

One man can't carry a whole team (unless that man is maradona), I agree with most of the comments here and commend the aurthur for covering all avenues.

Besides his immaculate ability to pick out any player on the pitch and his ridiculously flawless free kicks becks is known for one thing back home - proving people wrong. Hes been written off so many times yet he just keeps coming back and that should count for something.
