Preseason games get me in the mood and ready for the new season. Cant help it when I am starved for football. But it seems the footie hadnt stopped at all this summer – Confederations Cup, Gold Cup, U-21 UEFA and now the various pre-season matches to keep us occupied…its the greatest games on Earth. The great debate about Mickey Owen should dominate the coming season’s EPL football. Let’s face it, he is arguably the most natural English goalscorer at this moment, no one comes close…yet.

Great article as always Kristian. I agree that some players like Sheva do tend to shine in preseasons and disappoint somewhat later on. And the thrill of the Matchday is something that can only be experienced by actually being at the match – this is not like a CL quarterfinal match with lots of media build-up. Having said that, fans are slowly arriving in Pasadena and the California town is being painted blue – lots of Chelsea flags and enthusiasm. Everyone is very excited to see Zhirkov play for the Blues and many are predicting for him to score the first goal.

I personally think Michael Owen will be a success at Manchester United, sometimes a change of scenery and a better calibre of supporting players can really make a difference.

Lets not forget that despite only 70 Newcastle appearances he still bagged 30 goals. His talent has never been in doubt just his ability to stay fit.
