West Ham reject Manchester City’s bid for duo

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City have had bids for Craig Bellamy and Scott Parker rejected by West Ham.

City reportedly made bids of £7.5m each for Bellamy and Parker, both of which were quickly turned down.

Gianfranco Zola has been pretty adamant about not wanting to sell any of his best players, and with the Hammers having recorded back-to-back wins to move into the top half of the table and end 2008 on a high note, he’ll no doubt be reiterating those comments as the new year rolls in.

City will likely make improved offers for the pair, and there’s a chance that West Ham could be swayed if City tack on another few million to each bid. However, the Hammers are closer to the relegation zone than they are to the top six, and there might not be a lot of sense in selling two of your best players to a survival rival when you won’t necessarily be able to replace them like for like.

Are City aiming a little low by aiming for the likes of Bellamy and Parker, or are they more realistic targets than a Villa or Senna? Should West Ham sell, or should they keep their top players and look to make a run at the top six or seven?

West ham must not sell any of there spine core. But must sell some of the dead wood that is floating around upton park like the likes of bowyer, mullins, quashie, davenport, spector, reid. Reducing the wage bill is paramount to the success of this club.
