BD Condell, sorry that is a stupid idea as it is not fair on the players and the majority of law-abiding fans, it was only a miniority of idiot West Ham fans and your blaming Millwall, when none of their fans went on the pitch

@ Alex so how exactly are west ham football club or any other for that matter going to stop their fans from getting in trouble OUTSIDE the grounds? These sorts of fans don't care if their clubs miss out of the revenue from carling cup games as for the premiership teams these funds are somewhat neglibigle the fact of the matter is that as has been proven time and time again over the years if 'fans' want to fight then they will regardless of whether the club loses out on revenue, why? as they are not fans of the clubs but of violence. for proof of this just look to Italy and Spain where teams are routinely forced to play behind closed doors due to racism, does it change anything? of course not

@Ben King, if a game is played behind closed doors then West Ham United doesn't earn revenue from ticket sales...It's like a fine and encourages West Ham United to sort its fans out, it's not to prevent violence, otherwise they'd ban them from playing in front of crowds the wholes season...

It seems bizarre to me that anyone believes that games behind closed doors have any effect at all. The majority of the trouble happened OUTSIDE the ground and the fans are perfectly within their rights as free people to congrogate outside the ground. Yes the clubs need to be punished but a closed door match, that will really scare the hooligans. The only way you will challenge them is to take a hard line, kick the clubs out and ban them for the next years tournament even then you will still have hardcore hooligans still wanting to fight, they will find any excuse, simple as

Easy solution if you ask me. If Milwall and West Ham are drawn together in any cup competition just put the two balls straight into a hat and draw one out. Whoever is drawn goes through to the next round. Job done...and endless police time and money saved.

Idiots!

Yes, I could see this riot coming. Milwall always tends to be involved in these riots. Cup Games seem to attract more riots than Premier League games just because they are one-time affairs. Grea analysis.
