While we have not scored enough, as Fulham have shown, if you can keep clean sheets you will move up the table. Our defensive frailties (eg: marking plays on their wrong side, not tracking runners, own goals, etc) have very little to do with our passing philosophy. I would far rather see West Brom in the Premiership than Stoke. Unfortunately good football isn't necessarily condusive to results. If only points were awarded for style, WBA would be safe and Stoke would be far adrift at the bottom (along with Bolton and Hull most likely). It's also strange how finding a goalscorer is such an impossible task - many sides find bargain defenders (see Hangeland, Figueroa) or midfielders (see Denilson, Cahill) but strikers who score are in such short shrift. Zaki looked a good one but has now gone off the boil - Beattie is perhaps the only example this season. Even Kevin Davies at one point cost £7.5m! You’ve hit the nail on the head here.
