In response to 5, there are over 200 English footballers and coaches plying their trade abroad at the moment. And some are doing very well. Take a look at my site as proof of this.

Surprised that, if Beckham can already make it onto the list, then perhaps Jimmy Greaves should also be on it as a success, even if his stint was very short. He bagged enough goals and was respected by the Italians. The trouble was his head was all over the place.

Well that's not many English players outside of England these days. You'll be hard pressed to find 11 English players abroad.

I honestly don't see how playing for six months at Milan and scoring a handful of goals for them qualifies him to be in this top 5 list. Granted there aren't that many Englishmen to choose from when it comes to those who were successful in Italy. But in this instance (with all due respect), I get the feeling that Beckham makes this list based on his reputation and his English identity more than what he's accomplished (this has been an abismal season for Milan). My opinion though.

Good list, though it's a pity that John Charles wasn't listed. But he was Welsh so I guess that explains it.

Very good list. I am surprise though that you list Gazza as a disappointment cos I thought he did quite well at Lazio, he did gain cult status in Rome if I was not wrong.
I compiled this list of <a href="http://theflatbackfour.blogspot.com/2009/03/top-10-best-british-footballers-abroad.html" rel="nofollow">top 10</A> british footballers abroad from the Daily Mail. Good stuff!
