WAGsnatch roundup - Beckham, Ronaldo and Euro 2008
Tevez is supposedly heading to Old Trafford next week for a medical (while West Ham run from the Premier League and Kia runs from Brazilian law enforcement agencies), Liverpool have Babel, Chelsea are after Dani Alves, Arsenal are…well, playing with Wenger, Real Madrid are apparently after Riquelme (what, missing Ronaldo and Beckham already?) and Newcastle fans are thoroughly disappointed that Heinze and Deco don’t consider them a big club. Oh, and Spurs are snapping up young kids everywhere.
Now that we’ve got the transfer humdrum out of the way, let’s look at the really interesting stuff. You know, Beckham’s new LA Galaxy strip, Becks and Posh stripping for W, Ronaldo making out with Bipasha Basu and my devilish plans for Euro 2008.
The Beckhams, Big Mac style
If you thought Beckham-mania was overblown, you obviously have no experience with the Americanization of any phenomenon. Think Britney Spears. Paris Hilton. Lindsay Lohan.
Makes me cringe for Becks - after they’re through with him, Posh will be a cross between Spears and the Olsen twins, and Becks will be lucky to escape, at all.
The Becks and Posh money-spinning campaign is in overdrive even before they land in the States, with the couple baring all for US mag W and Posh talking about sex scandals, walking around naked and, well, that’s about it.
Pics? You’ve got to love the sleazy Sun style, but I think you’ll agree that these from PH are a bit classier (if a bit biased towards Becks).
Wait, here’s something that I can show you - Beckham sporting the new 07/08 LA Galaxy kit.
Ronaldo nails Bipasha with the ‘you’re cute’ line
Yes, we’ve all seen the pics. What struck me as funny in this story were the lines Ronnie used to nail Bipasha:
“Meeting him was a dream come true. After the event, we went out clubbing, and that was simply fantastic.
He is so cute and it was strange when he called me cute … He is a friend now and he has promised me that I will be invited for all his matches.
I was surprised when he told me that his mum watches old Hindi film movies.”
Full marks to #7 for lying his way through the night and picking up JA’s chick. Of course nothing happened between them. Of course…

Guys, I’m trying to make it to Switzerland / Austria for Euro 2008 - any advice / help on getting a press connection or sponsors would be welcomed

In reference to the Becks-mania currently gripping Los Angeles, I believe George Carlin has summed this phenomenon up quite nicely:

Ahmed, I had some links about ‘press pases’ at Euro 2008. You you might find interesting, but I think it will be very hard for you to get a Media Accreditation.

andrei - I know the uefa bit, a bit hard to get. I was actually hoping that anyone reading this was already affiliated with a media company and that THEY could do the dirty work for me.

Hi Ahmed. We are going to Euro 2008 too with press credentials(We hope) but confirmations will be sent out on feb 15.
We are from Venezuela and write for our blog and a soccer newspaper. Did you apply for accreditation? Have you make travel plans: hotel, airlines..??
I have been looking for this kind of information but dont want to do reservations till they confirm.. Let’s keep in touch to exchange info..
