Vote for this season’s the best Newcastle player
The season’s coming to an end and for Newcastle, it couldn’t come any sooner. Even the valiant draw against Chelsea was bittersweet - the squad’s fight tempered with the realisation that if they had fought like this throughout the season, Newcastle would be now be pushing for Europe.
Still, there are a few bright spots in an otherwise dismal season and as always, there is cause for optimism at Newcastle for next year.
Ed Harrison (over at the Newcastle United Blog) has put together a list of 6 players that he thinks were the best for Newcastle this season.

I was torn between Obafemi Martins and Nicky Butt, until I remembered that I’m not a Newcastle fan and really have no place judging any of them!
I seem to be turning into one those people who has opinions about things he knows nothing about.

I voted for James Milner - for me it was between Nicky Butt and Milner.
Milner has been our best player this year, hands down. He’s played in almost every game for us this year and hasn’t had very many poor ones if any at all. Butt has been good, but he’s had several indifferent performances and has made quite a few boneheaded mistakes that cost us dearly. Oba has been hot and cold. Taylor and the rest don’t even belong in the conversation.
