Vote for Soccerlens

Soccerlens has been nominated for the ‘Best Sports Blog’ award (I know, I know, it wasn’t me, honest!), so take out 2 minutes to sign up here and vote for us. The more votes you can hustle, the better :)

The whole process takes less than a minute, there’s good Karma involved (you’re supporting Soccerlens) AND since we’re top of the list (yup, we finally made it), there’s a very good chance that Soccerlens can win the award If you have any friends who would enjoy reading Soccerlens, this is the time to get them hooked up (honestly, I don’t care if you have to strap them down and force them to vote, it’s up to you).

The voting ends on midnight, October 19th, so hurry up and vote Soccerlens up the charts!

  1. Is SL a huge site? I thought it was a shitty (no offence) small site, but its like th ebiggest grup on SquadGod.

  2. August 20, 2007LiamOKelly

Honestly Kyle how is that ‘no offence’. :)

  3. Voted!

KyleAugGooner - SL is not the biggest group on SquadGod an Aston Villa blog alone has more users

There isn’t any other football blogs to vote the rest are tribalfootball style spam rubbish and caughtoffside has gone downhill so SL is the clear winner

Caughtoffside is listed under entertainment rather than sport (says it all) and ‘best blog design’ which is a bit shit as their theme is kubrick with grass in the header

  4. Gee thanks Kyle :)
  5. You got my vote….Happy to show my support

Now when do i get my free tickets?

  6. Can’t promise anything but if we do win then yea, I’ll throw a party or something :P
  7. I voted. So now what? Do I go to Heaven or something? You’ve got 19 votes so far and right now top is 209. Just 191 more to go!

  8. 20 votes now, you may have even moved up to page 3…

Ahmed do you get something except fame on this contest if you win?

    You got my vote BTW

  10. sorry im a united fan, natrully i have to vote for redrants.

  11. dan - you can vote for more than one site, and I’m a united fan as well, so surely that counts :P

I didn’t know RR was on there. I s’pose I better vote for them as well. Wouldn’t it be funny if Red Ranter beat you Ahmed when it was you who got him started :) . I doubt you’ll come close though because even though you get more veiws than other sites most other sites (noteably COS get more comments and such. I haven’t been there since I voted so is the Offside down as 1 site or are they all seperate because I can’t see anyone beating them if it’s down as one site.

  13. Liam,

RR is not on there as far as I know.

And if any blog can beat me, it’s nufcblog.com :)

Of course I’m not going to let anything like that happen.

Offside isn’t down there (I don’t think so) but if it’s going there then it will be down as one site.

Did you know that Soccerlens gets more traffic than the whole of theoffside.com combined? :)

    Just a thought.

  14. And guys, come ON! 25 votes only? We need 200. You’re telling me that I don’t have 200 readers who’d be willing to spare 2 minutes to help? Shame I tell you :)
  15. And gooner4ever - if I win, i’ll throw a big party or something. Or use the fame to make SL better, or something like that :)
  16. i voted ages ago! checked back today and its nowhere near the top! c’mon guys!

  17. August 23, 2007Gooner4ever

If you want to vote on blogger’s choice awards you need to leave your personal informations. Some people are still afraid of that. That could be a reason why people are not voting. Just a thought….

  18. @gooner4ever,well cant they put false info?

  19. I’m gonna vote for you, I feel like I shud’nt because you clearly dislike LFC, but again it’s only football, maybe if you were a bit more neutral just maybe more LFC visitors would vote for you, anyway just to show that I like banter I will spare you 2 min utes

  20. Ahmed why don’t you nominate RR :)
I know you’ll spit on me for asking that. After all it’s just a few months old and does not have a legendary following like nufcblog.

And yeah, change the waiting time from 15 mins to 5 or something. I did that for RR due to public opinion. Guess people over here might also have similar desires.

  21. waiting time?

    What waiting time?

  22. RE: My Football Club - Fans who think with their hearts, rather than their heads tend to be that little bit thicker!! They would probably believe that MFC would work with Man Utd., and probably only supported successful teams from 11 years of age. Work it out!! Spreading the funding at the lower levels (currently) helps to prevent the English league from becoming like SPL, all over by Christmas. I know that Santa only comes once a year, but who’d wannna watch that all season????

  23. waiting time? What waiting time?

The waiting time for users when they put their comments in. There is a buffer time of 15 minutes within which they can update their comments. Cut that down to 3 or 5 mins.

  24. oh well, i guess you pulled out that plugin.

  25. Oh, that.

Dude that plugin was crashing my site, apparently I have too much traffic or something :)

  26. Common guys Caughtoffside is doing better… and you really cant let a BASEBALL blog win, can you?!?!

  27. We’re #2, push, push, PUSH!
  28. You got my vote buddy! ^^

  29. it nows says you’re down to 126 votes, which is like 40 less than you had last week…I sense that something is amiss

  30. People will do anything to win! That’s life!

  31. Here’s an email I just sent to the people at BCA:

I run soccerlens.com, which was nominated for the best sports blog award on your website ( http://www.bloggerschoiceawards.com/blogs/show/24296 ). This morning the votes were 290 - right now they’re down to 126.

I suspect that this is because you guys found a discrepancy in the voting (through IP tracking). From my count, around 160+ votes were registered from my old college, Lahore University of Management Sciences, where I had asked my friends to vote for me (I graduated from there last summer). If you do a backtrace on the IP address, it will point you to the university, situated in Lahore, Pakistan.

I fully understand your terms and conditions and I have made every attempt to avoid doing anything that could cause a problem. This is a case of mistaken intent - you have chopped off 160+ votes based on an IP trace however since Internet access from the university is through a proxy (with a single IP address), there has been no violation of your terms and conditions.

Feel free to confirm the IP address and I would appreciate it if you could help resolve this matter quickly.

    regards,
    Ahmed

The reduction in votes is due to an error - I’m not sure whether it was because the site I had overtaken had some overzealous supporters who complained or whether they ran a check themselves. In either case, hopefully this will be resolved soon.
