I didn’t mean it was easier to get goals. Did I write that? He was a different player, less a world class act, more a world class talent. Villa is deemed as the world class act now. Torres was showing potential, Villa is showing class. And considering the quality in leagues as you agreed with, Villa needs to prove himself, Torres, though it should not digress into complacency, does not.

yomi, i could not disagree more. most la liga defences are ridiculous. madrid, the title winners, let in more goals than the next 12 teams in the table or something ridiculous like that. in england, defending is an art, in italy a law, and in spain, a joke.

andy, although i agree with you that he is worlds apart from how he used to play in spain, you mentioned that it was easier to get goals in spain. i disagree quite strongly, purely based on his goalscoring ratio, which was in and around 1:3, nothing to write home about.

But you cannot compare that way, Torres is a different player than when he was in spain. Trust me, i saw him then, and he is so different now it is unbelievable.

We can only compare when they have both taken part in the greatest of leagues, which at the moment is the Premier League. That is where the best defenses are at the moment, as the quarters of the champions league prove. They are both world class, no doubt. Le us hope that we see Villa in this country before long, as Valencia certainly will have to let go of him soon!

Um, wait you lads are talking about David Villa right? If that's the case, then David Villa is better than Torres - if only by just a tad. When Torres was in Atletico, he wasn't the excellent striker than he is now and if i recall correctly, the season before he moved to liverpool - he was statistically the 6th best striker in Spain. The defense in Spain is much more organized than the dross in the Prem which has worked in the favor of Torres. Also, unlike at Atletico, Torres doesn't have to run around aimlessly or track back at Liverpool which would greatly benefit ANY striker.

Now to Villa. He is just as fast as Torres and definitely a better goal scorer. Like Torres, he creates goals out of nothing but he can also take good free kicks and his shooting is pretty darn spectacular. If Villa moves to the prem and is surrounded by better players (meaning he won't have to go track back or chase the ball around like a fool), i'm pretty certain everyone will realize he's a bit more class than Torres. But for now, Villa is stuck at Valencia with slightly crap players and a super crappy management.

I could be wrong but seem to recall quite awhile back something about Villa mentioning he likes to partner with Torres for Spain as he gets more goals that way. Torres feeds Villa.

Sorry, not for me. I have seen both strikers many many times. I watch LA LIGA and watched Torres when there. Villa is quality, but Torres edges it in my opinion as he is better on the ball, creating chances for himself, a much less selfish player who will gladly provide a pass to assist a goal if the opportunity presents itself. Villa, whlst he had a good European Cup, has yet to prove himself against Premier League defenses, which are far far better than what he faces week in week out in LA LIGA. Much easier to get goals in that league. Forlan struggled to make the cut, as many have in our league, it is still to see if Villa can and will ever make that step up.
