United States international Omar Gonzalez was unveiled by his new club Pachuca in a bizarrely surprising Star Wars-themed press conference. Gonzalez cosplayed as Darth Vader as he was introduced as the Mexican club’s latest signing, the defender moving from MLS outfit LA Galaxy.

Gonzalez’s unveiling event was part of the Liga MX outfit’s Star Wars-themed “Refuerzos Tuzos” (Pachuca Reinforcements) campaign to celebrate their transfer activity.

Similar Star Wars-themed welcomes were afforded to Gonzalez’s fellow newcomers to the club, which included defenders Oscar Murillo, Emmanuel Garcia and Stefan Medina, goalkeeper Rafael Ramirez, midfielders Steven Almeida and Lucas Silva and forwards Hector Mascorro and Gustavo Ramirez.

With Pachuca currently in 12th in the Liga MX Clausura, they travel to Club Tijuana on the 9th of January for their first game of the new year. With their spate of new signings and their eccentric welcomes, may the force be with them.
