United and Arsenal, the blockbuster match of the weekends play
Manchester United will make their first ever visit to the new Emirates Stadium in Sunday’s mouth-watering showdown against Arsenal.
Twenty four hours after Chelsea and Liverpool go head-to-head in another blockbusting encounter, the league leaders take on the fourth-placed Gunners in a weekend which promises to have a major impact on the outcome of the title race.
Emmanuel Adebayor scored the only goal of the game at Old Trafford and with Robin van Persie struggling to shake off an injury (which I talked about in one of my other articles yesterday) sustained in training during the week. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger looks set to turn to the Togo international.
Wenger though must also look to contain the opposition without rejuvenated midfield enforcer Gilberto Silva. The Brazilian international has eight goals to his name this season, but was sent off after clashing with Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage in last Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Ewood Park and is suspended.
United, on the other hand, are at full strength ahead of their trip to north London.
The only selection dilemma facing the veteran Scot is over which of his strikers should start the match.
Wayne Rooney hasn’t found the net in his last six appearances leading to criticism of the England striker’s form, but looks set to start alongside one of either fit-again Louis Saha or the on-loan Henrik Larsson with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer available off the bench if required.
None of the attacking trio were on the mark in last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa, but with Michael Carrick netting his first goal for the club and Park Ji-Sung opening his account for the season, while Cristiano Ronaldo scoring his 13th of the season, and in turn etching closer to winning his bet over Sir Alex Ferguson. The league leaders look ominously dangerous from all areas of the pitch.

whats the story with fabregas for this weekend. is he still carrying an injury from the blackburn game.
Fabregas will play , and he’s going to be the man to watch from a United prospective . However with scholes and carrick aroud him .. should be a nice battle to watch.
Fabregas kicked ass!! I dunno why people say he’s over-rated!
I have to say that I was impressed by both teams today. Though neither team played perfectly, this was a top-notch match with both teams’ superstars rising to the occasion. Hopefully, we will see more matches of this caliber with the run-in to the championship approaching.
