Raed

Can you tell me what part of Liverpool's European campaigns these past seasons have been on luck?

Liverpool vs Levekursen 2004/05

Beat them comprehensively both home and away.

Liverpool vs Juventus 2004/2005

Liverpool beat Juventus 2-1 at Anfield and we held them to a draw in Turin. What was lucky? Hyppia's brilliantly taken chance or Garcia's brilliant volley that beat the best keeper in the world.

Liverpool vs Chelsea 2004/2005

Held them to a draw away and beat them at Home. What part was luck? If not for Garcia's goal was not given, the ref would have given a penalty with Cech sent off.

The final

They scored 3 goals in the first half and we scored 3 in the second half. Didn't concede a goal in ET and beat them on penalties.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool vs Barcelona 2006/2007

What part was luck? Beat them 2-1 at the nou camp and dominated them at Anfield.

Liverpool vs PSV 2006/2007

Beat them 4-0 aggregate. What luck?

Liverpool vs Chelsea 2006/2007

Kuyt's had a goal scored which was not given. We still beat Chelsea.

Liverpool vs Inter 2007-2008

We beat them 3-0 aggregate. What part was luck?

Liverpool vs Arsenal

1-1 draw away and a 4-2 win at home. Where was this luck you complain of?

Finally! Liverpool, the team that should have never qualified past the group stage, weakest link in the top 4, ran out of luck that they so seemed to be riding on for the past few seasons.

Liverpool can be glad about one thing for next season and that is Ryan Babel in my eyes. The kid is going to be the best in the world in a few years, so please utilize his skill.

Regarding Liverpool, you hit the nail on the head in your story: the difference between the two sides was Skrtel. In the first leg he marked Drogba out of the game so easily that he resorted to diving all over the place. Again in the second leg he was getting no joy until Skrtel had to go off.

Hyypia, though a fantastic servant for Liverpool, is simply not fast enough anymore, therefore Drogba got the time and space he was denied by Skrtel and he made it tell. If Skrtel had not gone off injured I am certain Liverpool would have been victorious not Chelsea.
