Great article Dan, its really great to see non-Turkish fans following our Super league. I am a Turkish-American who lives and dies watching soccer, Love the game so much. I have witnessed our brand of Football grow and get better in the last 10-15 years. Before Galatasaray, was the only force we had in Europe from club teams. Than Kayserispor made a "splash" by winning the first Intertoto cup in 2006,though it might not be a big deal, it is for me in many ways. Than Fenerbahce (BOOOOO! :) ) went to quarter finals of champ league which galatasaray had done several times before. Again it made my day (especially because its actually my birthday as I am writing this) to see other fans with knowledge of our league. I hope you continue to follow, and where ever you live i hope you have the chance to watch the games....Great article! keep up the good work.

Yeah, it was a sweet goal. Got to give him credit for that one. Too bad he couldn't do that when he played for Manchester United, but I guess the pace of the Spanish game suits him better.

Thanks Vic. Yeah, the day when Bellion's name is juxtaposed next to clinical has finally arrived. He took it well though and scored while the fans at Ali Sami Yen were still doing their pre-game chants and songs. But the game was exceptional... really living up to the hype of a European match. Speaking of Forlan, did you see his wonder strike against Barcelona?

Nice article, Dan. Funny to see the words "David Bellion" and "clinical finishing" in the same sentence, but I guess my memories of him are not very positive. Then again, a lot of Manchester United players from that era (Djemba Djemba? Kleberson, Bosnich, Forlan before he became a monster) weren't anything to write home about.

The Croatia match was one of the best matches I've ever seen, and that, along with the Czech match, made me think that Turkey was a potential team of destiny. I thought they were going to beat the Germans, despite their injuries, and they nearly pulled it off. They definitely helped make Euro 2008 memorable.
