The summer transfer window may be over but the rumour mill is omnipresent. Despite domestic leagues and European competitions in full flow there are lot to speculate if we are to anticipate the ‘fast approaching’ January transfer market.

We bring you a roundup of all the latest transfer stories including Manchester United’s plans to sell a struggling defender in January with a replacement already lined up. Chelsea meanwhile will push hard in the winter transfer window for a summer target they failed to sign.

Manchester United ready to sell Marcos Rojo, eye Bruno Martins Indi:

Manchester Evening News claim that that Manchester United are ready to sell Marcos Rojo in the January transfer window and have eyed Dutch international Bruno Martins Indi as the Argentine’s replacement.

Rojo has never quite settled down at Old Trafford having switched back and forth between centre back and left back in Louis Van Gaal’s system. The relationship between the pair is also on a low after the Argentine had also angered Van Gaal in the summer by missing United’s pre-season tour of America due to passport problems.

Van Gaal was also been furious with the player as he did not reveal the extent of his hamstring injury due to which he limped out from the action during United’s 3-2 win over Southampton a fortnight ago. We had earlier reported  that United are willing to listen to offers for the 25 year old with Russian side Zenit St Petersburg interested in the defender’s services.

The report from Manchester Evening News also claim that United have are now plotting a move for Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi. United had earlier sent scouts to watch the player who was also an integral part of Van Gaal’s Dutch side who made it to the semi finals of the World Cup in Brazil last year.

Like Rojo, Martins Indi can also play both as a left back and as a centre back which means he would be a like-forlike replacement for Rojo.

Chelsea to reignite interest for Everton’s John Stones:

After failing to sign Everton’s John Stones in the summer, Chelsea are set to make a fresh move for the defender in the January transfer window as per the Daily Mirror. The report states that Everton refused four bids for the player, the last of which was £38m (including all performance clauses). The report also states that French side Paris St Germain had turned down a late Chelsea bid of £30.6m bid for Brazilian defender Marquinhos.

Marquinhos

It is believed that the youngster has become frustrated at the club being third choice behind the Thiago Silva and David Luiz. Former PSG and Chelsea defender Alex has urged Marquinhos to leave the Parc De Princes and head elsewhere.

Alex, who now plays for AC Milan said, as per the report, “If I was in his place I would leave PSG, especially when all the big clubs want him. During every transfer window, he gets magnificent offers. He’s young and should be playing to show his worth.”
